3 IJN ships sank today near Midway

2 MSW
1 AK

so Bruno now has lost at least 22 ships in the attempt to take it

Tennessee, Colorado, and Pennsylvania are ready for combat

additionally, New Mexico and Mississippi arrive in 2 days

Image

so PacFlt will have 5 active battleships in the event of a Brunoese invasion of Hawaii

also, several ships have been spotted off Midway, and more to the northwest

Image

recon is sketchy, but today i heard the lil "enemy carriers spotted" voice

however OP reports nothing on their sighting

however B17s on recon did spot Kongo at Pescadores

Burma and china are quiet as tombs

Malaya, only bombardments, no ship movements sighted

whats Bruno up to?

since theres little or no intel and the KB could be just behind those troopships, the Midway relief force is turning back for Pearl to await further developments

26 days until Hornet arrives

Bruno Returns!

Post by marky »

youve GOT to admire that persistence!! [:D]

So Bruno is back at Midway, and hes taken 2510 casualties already so far

hes now taken at LEAST 8-9000 casualties in the effort, which has been almost ongoing since January 6th

a carrier has been spotted at Amboina, and her presence is confirmed by the attack of the Claudes

Image

now what of Midway? Bruno now has about 28000 troops ashore. But where is KB?

they could be loitering out of detection range, on alert, ready to react, and the transports would be slaughtered

the good news is that Midways Swiss Cheese Field, is almost repaired

Image

ive flown in some PBYs, and i shall await further developments before tossing the transports into the void...

trouble is that that may be too late...

perhaps he believes that Midways AF is still useless, so hes not too concerned with covering the trannys. Hmmmm. But then i could be wrong.

again i come to what CAN he do.

he CAN cover the transports, wipe out any attempt i make to reinforce the garrison, sink the carriers, send in a surface firce to obliterate them

could he have lost alot of fuel? could he need supplies? when was the last time KB was sighted? its been several days, so it could be at Kwajalein and preparing to sail back. its been operating almost constantly and must neeed replenishment

but what if im wrong?

ive given the situation some thought, and given the variables and unknowns, and measuring that ill lose 10000 men and some planes to perhaps 2 or 3 carriers and 200 planes and some escoprts and the troopships and 20000 men, i will probably not attempt to reinforce Midway, as much as i hate it, it just wouldnt make sense to sacrifice all of them for 10000 men and a few planes.

Hi, Marky I also had a game with Bruno before he unexpectedly quit it. I think your observations have been pretty good. I found that Bruno has a tendency to run both sctf and amphtf without in my opinion adequate aircover. Because of this both Boise,  Houston, with the Dutch and Aussies had a field day down by Kendari. It seems once he sets a goal he just keeps plugging away till he achieves his goal. Good luck....

AK Havana Maru went down at Palau today

and AP Baikal Maru went down near Midway

2 more Imperial ships to Davy Jones Locker

still no sign of KB, Midways AF is finally ready

Bruno still has about 27000 troops on Midway

there are now 225 fighters based at Pearl on full alert, along with 24 P39s, hovering at 12000 feet, theyll be good against the Vals and Kates if they should show up

also being unloaded at Pearl is the 250th Coastal Arty Regt

and Arizona has disappeared

not sunk, just disappeared. shes not on the map anywhere, and she wasnt sunk, not a singgle BB was close to being sunk at Pearl, and 2 or 3 are already ready to join the fight [&:]

heya tanky

i think i may have seen that a while ago, did u write an AAR?

and that could work to my advantage

unfortunately for bruno he cant really afford that kind of approach as Japan, especially if the going rate for the islands he takes from me continues to be what im making him pay, much less if it increases, as indeed i would make him pay a VERY heavy price for attacking Pearl again, even by air [:D]

IJN Midway Toll:

72 carrier planes
25+ ships
8000-9000+ troops

in the space of 2 weeks no less

IJN Losses @ Midway

Post by marky »

Thus far since the Battle of Midway began, Bruno has lost:

9969+ troops

IJN Carrier Losses(Roughly)

Zeroes

9 Downed
14 Damaged

Vals

18 Downed
125 Damaged

Kates

30 Downed
69 Damaged

Total Carrier Plane Casualties

57 Destroyed
208 Damaged

Ships Sunk:

at LEAST 37, this is alot harder to keep track of for the obvious reasons that some ships meander about a bit trying to make a safe port, only to sink on arrival, or on their way, or near another island

but i will be tabulating them, but it will take some time

Quite a price to pay for lil Midway...

and its still not over yet!!! [:D]

IJN Losses @ Midway

Post by marky »

This is more massive a task than i thought [:D]

and im only gonna figure out where other ships have sunk, cuz once i do that, ill know what Bruno lost at/for and near Midway in the course of the battle

heres the lost list...

ill not try and ad up damage, though a damaged ship is almost as good, im interested in ships sunk

so very many more ships are damaged, and may yet sink, though these are the ships currently in Davy Jones Locker...

38 ships or so...

Image

From here on out and for all of Brunos operations i shall keep a record and keep it updated

Total Carrier Plane Casualties
57 Destroyed
208 Damaged

Hes also had about 20 Operational Zero losses, 1 Val OPs loss and 1 Kate OPs loss

The Zeroes may or may not have been carrier OPs losses, but i imagine some were

of course, some of these pilots may have been rescued, but theres no way to know. all i can do for now really is to keep causing attrition on KB

Ships:

Image

38 ships!

So, quite a price to pay in 2 weeks time for lil Midway

and the battle isnt yet over

i imagine more men planes and ships of the Rising Sun will be joining their friends and ancestors in Davy Jones Locker...

IJN Losses @ Midway

Post by marky »

there was a slight error in numbers of Brunos ships losses, sumthing was buggin me about it

so i went thru the types 1 at a time and figured this is so far the most accurate count of his naval losses from the Midway campaign

1 AV
3 DD
5 PC
5 AP
6 AK
19 MSW

Thus the total of Brunos naval losses thus far is 39 ships, not 38

oops [:D]
