Hi All,

What file type are the unit graphics and does one need a program to unpack them?

John,

The textures for most things (like tank and uniform textures) are in direct X compressed format or dds. Sometimes they are in just plain bmp format and sometimes as pngs.

To use dds there are lots of free programs and plugins on the net. I use the free nvidia dds plugins for photoshop, but google will be your friend here if you want to get something else.

If you get serious about modding, get back to us about what type of dds compression/format as it does vary a little depending on which textures you are using, specifically if you are using alpha or not.

Cheers

S.

Hi Stridor,

Thanks for the reply. I have not bought the game yet so I am collecting information in order to make up my mind.

The neat thing about PCK is that you can also add all new content to the game, as well as make texture changes to all the existing stuff. [;)]

All of the graphics formats are able to be opened and modified by freely accessible tools. The only tools you'd need to pay for are Milkshape and Polytrans if you want to get into 3D modeling for new vehicles or maps.
