Urban terrain/Villages?

Post by marcusm »

Are there any cities or at least Urban terrain in this game?
Just occurred to me that there's no cities in the screens.

Kharkov was fairly large I mean ;). Also, from what I have seen in documentaries
the in city fighting was fairly heavy.

If not a city per se, at least more defined villages with houses a bit more dense so as to break up LOS.  I'm wondering how difficult it will be to edit one of the existing maps and increase the population a bit.

I can't wait to get my hands on this game - maybe today?

Villages yes, cities no. True city-fighting rules are planned for the future. Right now it would work, but not as well as we would like.

You're thinking of 3rd Kharkov, whereas the historical campaigns here are 2nd Kharkov which was mainly fought outside the city.

That would actually be really easy to do once you've grasped the map editing basics.

Villages are good enough. Never expected full cities, the CM cities were
so ugly I almost never choose those battles.

I agree with you about the CM cities. Didn't care for them too much.

But in PC:K I thought I saw a screenshot with a factory in it. But perhaps not.

Yes there are several "factory" models in the game.

It won't be hard, it would just take a bit of dedication, for someone to take a preexisting light urban map (of which there are several) and turn it into a heavy urban map [;)].

ATM PCK doesn't allow multistory mounting. So whilst you can have infantry battles inside structures, you can't elect to move them around inside structures or mount them on particular floor. Note there are multistory mounts which you can use (eg church bell tower, church floor, etc) but the guys mount top down from memory. See BC #1 Enemy sniper in bell tower, you mount with german grenadiers ground floor they fight inside. If sniper dies you can unmount your germans and then remount and they will now be in the Church tower ....

... Hell it probably works well enough, someone get to modding some maps already [;)]
