Campaign save game suggestion

Post by rickier65 »

I'm playing the Bootcamp campaign and I'm just starting the 3 scenario.

A suggestion for the system would be to be able to save the game when the Scenario briefing comes up. Right now, I have to read the briefing, then save the game when it gets to the setup screen (if I dont want to start the next battle just then). And then I cant get back to the briefing.

Since I'm not able to tell for sure just when a scenario is going to end, I"ve been saving almost everyturn, So that when it runs over to the next battle, I'll have a save bpoint before the next breifing.

So a save opportunity at the breifing screen would be good. (There is an autosave there, but if I happen to play another game in between then it's lost.

Oh - got a legendary victory for 2nd battle in campaign, even though my command squad took a couple of losses -that church tower is magnet for enemy fire.

I checked the after action OOB and I surprised to see that neither the 150art nor the 81mm mortar killed any Infantry squads. (mortars took out a truck or two). All my kills were credited to the Grenadiers.

Thanks Stridor - it occurred to me after my post that maybe I could try and get into habit of copying my autosave after a campaign scenario eceded. Another option would be to put the save game option on the end screen that gives the battle result - that way it woulnd't mess up the regualr briefing screen. But I'm sure you guys know best what would work.

I did try going into review a that point, but the save button is greyed out then.

Thanks
Rick

The game really needs this suggestion to make the HQ Helper operate in a manner that works intuitively (from within the main GUI would be even better). I keep forgetting to save my campaigns before that first turn.

I would also like to see a Restart mission option. If I get halfway into a mission and am not doing well, if I didn't save at the beginning, I have to be completely defeated before I can try again from the start.

You can always use the "Q" key to surrender instead of playing things out.

Hopefully my autosave manager when it is finished will help you with some of these save problems.

Oh, thanks! Didn't know that existed. I even looked at the key reference in the pdf and must not have noticed.

I received my physical copy today. So, now I'll be able to get down to reading over the manual in detail.

Yes, I brilliantly left that key out of the hotkey reference. Sorry about that!
