Immobilized Armor

Post by choowee »

I really like the feel of CCMT, but find the ease of immobilizing armor very frustrating. As soon as a mortar falls it seems my treads or tires are blown. This is the definite rule vice the exception. Can this value be changed?

On the same note, can the accuracy of the artillery and mortars be turned down easily?

If I change the values in CCMT, how does this affect play online?

Thanks for any input!

There are a number of values you can play around with. In Weapons.txt, the blast radius and blast effect of the mortars can be lowered. In Vehicles.txt, the integrity of the vehicles can be raised. There is no one column or one set value that will ensure that there are no mobility kills - the terrain (Elements.txt) can even have an effect. The game rolls many probabilities for every round fired.
On the same note, can the accuracy of the artillery and mortars be turned down easily?

Yes. The base accuracy column in the Weapons.txt file uses a value from the Chance tables. CCMT's mortars are already far less accurate than real life mortars, so you might want to look at a balance between lowering the blast radius and blast effect of the mortars and increasing the vehicle's surviablility in addition to making mortars even more inaccurate.
If I change the values in CCMT, how does this affect play online?

That depends. The game uses the Host's files for all the data. If you host, the other players will use your files, if you join a game, you will play with the host's files. It is proper form to ensure that everyone knows about any changes and agree to use the same set of data files.

The attached Excel workbook has all the data files with full header descriptions. If you don't have MS Excel, you can use the freeware Open Office Suite to open and edit the worksheets. Change the \Data\Base text files by opening them as a spreadsheet, paste in your changes and save the file as a tab delimited .TXT file.

ALWAYS back up your data files before editing and saving!

Thanks Senior Drill, just the answers I was looking for. I appreciate your input. I will also work with the spreadsheet to do some experimenting.

Interesting about the mortars. In my experience they seem to be dead on the first shot.

I haven't tried multiplay yet. How is it being received? I never see anyone on Battle HQ.
