Platoon Commanders

Post by Prince of Eckmühl »

PCK adds a layer of commands that is missing in other WW2 games, such as CC and CM. Obviously, I'm talking about the system whereby a stance of sorts is set for the entire platoon via its HQ squad or vehicle. Apart from these commands, does the platoon leader have any other functions in the game?

I believe there is a -1 fire accuracy modifier for units > 150meters from the Platoon Commander.

You know, the platoon commander position might be an interesting place to shoe-horn in a "personality" for folks who want them. Goodness knows there were plenty who made their mark as soldiers at that level of command. It'd also be easy to generate a list of qualifying personnel.

Also -1 to their initiative if out of Platoon Commander range, IIRC.

When they redo the infantry + animations, I'd like to see the platoon commander's figure in the squad ... just to find him and identify the enemy HQ.

Also, since they have the special ability of Veteran Sergeant, perhaps the next step is a promotion to an officer ability when the platoon HQ get's destroyed ... or at least make this guy the HQ when it happens.

EDIT NOTE : To ERIK ... yeah yeah ... add to wish list. By the way, when are you going to make a Wish List Sticky? [;)]

I've seen sticky wish lists on other games - I actually don't care for them. I'm always afraid that "MY" wish list item will get lost behind all the others - So I find myself periodically asking for things again - and that's got to drive the folks that actually use the wish list crazy.

What would be a nice though would be to have an "official" wish list as a sticky but only give the designer write access.

Well, I've been keeping the wish list offline in a document at this time. I may post it up later, but I don't really like to maintain it in two places.
