Against the AI or another player?

I have beaten the AI as the soviets in March 1943, and as the Germans in Nov 1941 (using unlimited air bombardments) and no earlier than May 1942 using house rules (specifically limited air attacks). The trick is that the AI doesn't defend its flanks well enough, and you can usually encircle 80% of the German army if you focus on doing so during the 1942/43 winter, and from there it's just a short drive to Berlin.

I agree on the Soviet attack. I did not race for the Baltic to cut off the Wehrmacht. I went rolled the armor through Ploesti and just kept pushing in north and center, it definitely extended the war.

1941 campaign:
as Germans: victory in Nov. 1941
as Soviets: Sept. 1942
(playing Second Front I was able to perform a major couteroffensive as Soviets in Sept. 41 once)
