Stuck Units

Post by morganbj »

I don't know if this has ever popped up before, I don't remember seeing it (but hey, I'm too old to remember everything). I have units stuck in Corsica.

I transported them there, sieged the place, took control, and now want to ship them home. No matter what I try, they will not board the same ships that took them there. I've tried one division at a time, I've tried that "auto join" button, I've tried putting them in a corps container, I've tried Byzantine chants and burning incense.

How to I get aboard ships and on the way again?

What really makes this difficult is that I had the hidden units problem here to work around. I could only see some of the units by using the "Military" screen. I have them all showing now (but my depot is hidden), so I can try various combinations of loading. Is this "I-love-Corsica-and-don't-want-to-go-home" a bug, or is there something new for me to learn?

I have save files, as usual.

I tried to find info in the search but had no luck. I have 10 transports in Normandy and am unable to load a single unit aboard them. There has been no trouble loading units elsewhere. Is there something I am not aware of here?? in relationship to the area or something??

BTW, it may be the same problem as this one from several months earlier, but I'm not sure.

What happens when they "don't board"? What I mean is, does the interface not give you the down arrow? Do you give the move order to board, but then during the Movement PHase do they then fail to board?

No down arrow at all. I tried the "join button" too, but that didn't help, either. I thought it might be a ship capacity probelm, so I created a fleet of 4 transports and tried to load a container with two divisions.

Again, I've not ever seen this before, although I have to admit, I've not done much transporting before. Corsica was just too much of an enticement to resist ....

I had something similar with Crete..
but then i realized that my ships were NOT in the port/area.. but in the sea zone around..
maybe if u dont control the port (yet) u cant load troops on ships if they are not "at bay"..in land zone..
i dunno.. try to move the ships INTO corsica, not just around it , .. maybe then they will embark . try..

Otherwise.. Corsica is a very beautiful island to get lost in.. [;)]

No, I owned the island, so the port was mine. It's as if the "board" instructions were not part of the code. And, yes, despite spending four years in Europe, I never got to Corsica. Wish I had.

Well, last night with Spain, i did quite the same as you, invaded neutral Corsica..
wasnt able to conquer it .. (also if remaining there many months..
and the only way to have my men back home has been to "ask for truce"..to Corsica..
who did agree..
sure the prestige of the crown of spain shell fall down for this ! [;)]
