Boardgame Mod.

Post by Delyn Locksmiths »

I've never actually used the nato counter set or the blitzkrieg graphics mod, even though I liked the look of them both, as i didn't want to have to overwrite the original files. So now I'm working putting them together in a modded masterfile. Allowing you to use them with any scenario or random game, without having to overwrite files.

I'm all in favour of the little envelope infantry, takes me back to my younger days, playing against myself in my room. (I said AGAINST folks!). The Third Reich boardgame was what got me into it after reading some book which mentioned it. Anyway, aside from the rifle infantry, cavalry, air and armour symbols which I know, the nato counter set is a little overwhelming. So I'm thinking of working out a halfway house between victors counters and the nato set. What do you guys want in the mod? Full nato counter set? Full vic counter set? My happy medium?

This looks awesome! I think that current nato symbols you are using are good ones. There were larger versions and I didin't like them.

We could release two different waw patch next time. One with your graphics and one with originals.

excellent idea. If the user has installed my mod then he can choose to use either these graphics or the original graphics. But the creator of the scenario can also choose which graphics the player uses as a default. That way we can have a different look to different scenarios. It's a bit retro, but I think it's nice.

The file is finished. I'm just playtesting it in North Africa now, then I'll be adapting it to my ww2 scenario

Ok the mod is finished. I'm uploading it to the community site now.
I'm also working on a WW2 european theatre scenario to go with it, but that's taking a little longer. Let me know what you think.

Very good job! I will look at waw33a version and think about solution with artillery thing. Also Garrison event has to be checked out. Do you wan't to add your graphics in that version? Would be a good idea to release 2 different version about it. One with normal graphics and one with yours. I think its better that way than just insert them via master file. There are people who don't know how to do it anyway.

there are a few things to sort which I'm working on now. I've got rid of the error message which comes up when searching for graphics. And I've changed the urban graphics as I don't like them. I am working on a single player ww2 scenario to go with it, and that is basically finished apart from the economic modelling.

Hi

Nice mod. I have tried using it on my Weserubung scenario. I think it looks great, se screenshot. One concern however. When i start i get error message that it cant find the following files

light forest g1.png
heavy forest g1.png
sea g1.png
low mountain g1.png
high mountan g1.png

Maybe somemore, i dont remember. Also, as you can see the naval forces look like the normal AT which is a little strange. Do you have any idea whats wrong.

The naval forces look like normal AT because i prefered it that way. I don't really like the SMG infantry symbol either. [:D] I wanted something that reminded me of the boardgame Third Reich and the original AT naval graphics are nearer the counters i remember from Third Reich.

The looking for graphics problem I have sorted now. I will upload the new file this afternoon.
