Ouch! [8|] RAF came with force and neutralized the airfield at Bangkok. Those multiple waves were just too much to handle.

Chuck decieded to keep bombing Bangkok. Well, at least he lost few bombers here. I will not back off and he really needs to fight his way through. Ì think these results were excellent considering the date of the game!

Nothing else note worthy to report. I think the Russian airforce is finding it tough going.
 
Hopefully we can gain the upperhand here and start supporting our ground troops. Without massive airstrikes we are in trouble.

Hi everyone,
 
Due to real life restrictions we have decieded to sue for peace. Chuck is very busy nowdays and can't really say that I have a lot of freetime either.
 
So, basically the game has ended in a draw stalemate. Allthough, I must admit that I got my butt kicked big time [:)]
 
* My industry is not in great shape.
* My pilot pools are exchausted.
* Ground troops halted in Russia thus reflecting in all the operational areas.
 
Taking all the above in account plus the fact that Chuck really hasn't made any errors I can full heartely say that Allied side won. Congrats to Chuck for the game well played!
 
It has been an honour to play againts him and I can recommend him as opponent to anyone inrested.
 
I have sent my password to Chuck and this is no longer an closed AAR.
 
Also, thanks to readers who have posted here and given me ideas/feedback. [:)] Special thanks to Nemo121 also for giving such good information regarding Japanese economy etc. Too bad I had screwed a lot of it earlier so this was more like damage control.

It is very strange feeling not have any turns in the Outlook inbox!!! This is the first time in 3 years when I don't have any PBEM's ongoing! [8|][X(][:D] 
 
We have exchanged the passwords and I have looked the allied side of things. So, I think it is appropriate to evaluate each area of operations. What went wrong and what would have been...
 
 
Economy:  I wont go into details. I blundered many things which affected the game hugely.
 
This area of the game is covered in these pages quite nicely. Thanks to Nemo. I mean what would I add... the master have spoken.
 
 
Russia: This is by far the biggest mistake I made. I checked and the Russians have tons of supplies in the CHS! There were still + 400 000 supplies at Vladivostok when the game ended!!!
 
Also didn't realize how big the red army is in CHS. Chuck had sizeable forces at Vladivostok, Borzya, Iman and Blagovench. Thus meaning that my Russian adventure would have ended into an stalemate.
 
I do not regret trying the Russian assault. Allthough, the first wave should have hit the Russian divisions much harder initially. The main goal would be either to cut Russians in two via central push or/and seize Vladivostok within the first 2 weeks.
 
I would estimate that initial strike againts Vladivostok would need 600-700 000 men. Also, if possible I would suggest to launch the offensive here earlier than I did. Thus preventing Russians the time to build up fortifications.
 
It was a blast though! Congrats to Chuck he achieved big tactical victory here.
 
 
China: The Northern China was as strong as I estimated.
 
The central area was in much worse shape. Basically Chuck won here psychologically. The supply situation was actually somewhat awful.
 
I should have pushed here much harder... moved much more bombers into this theatre and bomb his supply depots into dust. Well ... I didn't...
 
I would suggest that China before very high priority when it comes time to decieded where to push hard early on. (I would if I would try CHS again) . Propably would strip quite a few Home Island/Manchuko divisions and try 3 frontal push here with +1000 bombers!!! I think this front would collapse quite soon.
 
This area ends up into strategical victory to Chuck.
 
 
India/Burma/SRA: I didn't push too far up to Burma. At the hindsight this was a good idea since it would have gained nothing. I would say Rangoon area was doable at the start but wohn't regret anything here.
 
Chuck propably could have won this front but we would have quite a few battles at Saigon and Singapore. I not too sure that these bases would be seized quickly. I do estimate that it would have hold into late 1944's.
 
One thing I would suggest. Move as much supplies as possible early on... I did not bring nearly as much as I should have. You will need these resources/supplies later on.
 
Good thing was here that we did manage to go toe to toe with RAF. With better handling of my production etc I could have hurt him even more here.
 
This area goes to Chuck too... but not as nearly huge margin.
 
Philippines/Java: These initial assaults were good. I managed to seize the bases much more quickly than anticipated.
 
After these victories I did became too cautious!!! Now that I actually see what I was up againts.
 

Solomons/New Guinea/Timor areas: Well, what can I say! Chuck moved steadily with his divisions. These landings were covered by LBA / Naval forces and I did fail to inflict the damages I should have done.
 
Also I really should have launched assaults againts Timor, Northern New Guinea bases... This was actually very much on my mind but I got cold feet!!! Never should have happened... with heavy counterstrikes I could have wiped out a lot of allied units. This would have costly BUT well worth the effort! Even this late date I was very much suprised to see the garrison levels here! Only Darwin was out of my reach! There was 3000 Assault value gathered and ready to launch againts my units.
 
In the beginning I should have pushed the front furhter South. Thus giving me much more time to build up Rabaul and New Guinea bases. I did underestimate the Chuck timing in his 1st offensive. It came in much earlier than expected.
 
This area...well.. the winner by a mile is Chuck. Again goes to show that PBEM's are mind games... I did over estimate his forces here thus became too scared to the things that needed to be done.
 
 
Other areas: I thought that Chuck was gathering his forces for an assault via Aleutians. This was not to be the case when I looked. (Again good play by Chuck) ... I could have rolled up these bases this late and even seize the Anchorage!

Nemo suggested the Midway operation! Well, I thought it would have been much more fortified... it wasn't so should have done that too. I would not even had to commit huge forces to do this!!!
 
Marshalls was done nicely early on and I think I actually did a good job garrisoning these bases. Not too much forces here but enough to cause headache... this is just an estimate since Chuck did not strike here. Yet, again I should have builded up the Gilberts better and seize Canton Island.
 
Also, I didn't understand the value of the "dot bases" (level 0 airfields etc)... at the first didn't even think these as possible frontline operational bases. Boy was I wrong ...wrong... Chuck did the opposite and gained  valuable bases for his frontline fighters etc.
 
I think these pretty much summarizes the game. Chuck gained a lot in terms of mind games. I should have been much more aggressive. This suprises me since I though I fought aggressively... (I base this by reading a lot of the AAR's here)... but by looking at the things now in hindsight I only wonder why I was such a chicken! There was a lot to be gained in many places even in 1943's!!!
 
Maybe I have been bit harsh with evaluation of my gameplay than again I do feel agressive style would have gained such much more....! [:)]

I know I have enjoyed playing againts such a gentleman as Chuck was.... well I have been blessed with good opponents in all of my PBEM's!!!
 
...now... no PBEM's ongoing... I need to digest this a bit.. + 3 years of constant playing of this game.
