[06 Maestro]

This Sidi Rezegh battle seemed like a tough one for either side. I decided to give it a good go as the CW side. It is still at a draw in the wee hours of day 3 (the last day).
I'm not sure if I'm going to bag Rommel, or spend the spend the rest of the war easting plain pasta.

The big question here is just whom is surrounding who.

This screen shot is right about in the middle of the map. The total AO is about 12 times bigger than what is shown here. This is the zoom level that I typically use. I can read the terrain better at this level. We are looking at about 4 km, east to west.

This screen shot has been shrunk about 20% and compressed drastically. The units are much more clear in the game.

This is day 3 at 11 am. There are only 11 hours left in this mêlée. It is still at a draw. Some supply columns are getting torn up, but the German side is getting the same treatment. I'm not calling off the attack because of supply.

The New Zealand division is taking a long time reaching the front (approaching from the east). There are on normal speed-it probably would not do too much good to have them speed march through the desert.

Holy mozzarella! An Italian armored column is approaching from the south. Those are M/35's, M11/39's, and M13/40's. It's too bad they are coming in on the back side of my S.A. artillery. One battery will be able to engage in direct fire. What a mess.

I hadn't expected this surprise. This little battle has put a smile on my face. What to do now??

I won! This was really quite close, and would perhaps qualify as a Pyrrhic victory. I tried out some wild maneuvers just to see if the AI could counter-it did very well. It was telling in how it would redirect a units effort as soon as a threat was eliminated.
The terrain is quite a mix, but overall, you have much longer engagement ranges than the original scenario's. Actually, line of sight frequently exceeds the weapons ranges.

I will have to try this again with an improved approach (maybe); focusing on destroying the Axis units. That won't be easy either. I was close to taking a couple of the biggest objectives-really a great fight.

The destroyed units locations. Note that the gold crosses are Allied, and the white ones are the Germans. It seems the AI suffered from the some reckless behavior as the Allied side. Units were pushed forward into very dangerous areas where some could not survive.

I hope you found this brief AAR/DAR intersting. I would like to have done a more in depth AAR, but I wanted to get one going now regardless of time constaints.

This is really a tough, well ballance scenario. It will be intereting indeed when two equal players give this a go, and put the action out for us to see.
