Screen resolution?

Kharkov: Disaster on the Donets is the latest strategy title from the award-winning team at Strategic Studies Group. A synthesis of the very best elements of two critically acclaimed and top-rated game systems, Decisive Battles and Battlefront, and a successor to both, the new Kharkov: Disaster on the Donets brings to life a campaign of epic scale and dynamic battles on the Eastern Front of World War II.

Screen resolution?

Post by Kung Karl »

Will this game support the widescreen resolution of 1680*1050? If so, this game is a must buy!

As with Decisive Battles and Battlefront, it supports 1024x768 and 1280x1024. It will work fine in 1680x1050 (I'm playing it on just such a screen now) and it looks good, but it's not running in the native resolution.

Sorry, but another reason not to buy. We've asked for increased resolution support since Korsun Pocket.

So my laptop widescreen monitor is not supported... but it is possibile to have a zoom level, finally? Counters are too small for my taste.

Same Graphics engine as Battlefront so there are no changes to zoom either. Still that "Alt" Magnifying glass.

Ok, there's a difference between what computer it will run on and what resolutions it natively supports. It works fine on my 1280x800 laptop, in 1024x768 mode. It looks fine too since I have my laptop's video drivers set to not stretch apps that are not in 1280x800 to fit. So there's a little black space around the edges, but it's crystal clear.

Try again. If you look at many a threads the increased resolution support is to tackle the problem of blurry games. LCD display a more clearer image when displayed on their native resolutions. Also a proper zoom control would be needed as the current magnifying glass only blows up the image thus not very effective.

Also, I said more resolution support not the elimination of currently supported resolutions.

Granted this would take a complete re-write of the graphics code and may never see the light of day.
