How can I play a random generated campaign game with <100 units?

Post by von Beanie »

I have played the original Steel Panthers game for many years. I like having about 50 units per side because I can complete the game in an hour or two.
Is there any way to play a randomly generated WWII campaign in SPWAW with perhaps only 1000 points of units rather than >3000 points?

Go into your preference setting and set the points to purchase units to 1000 points for both sides and you should be all set.

I'm not too sure about this, but it seems like last time I heard something along these lines, you're not supposed to change the enemy purchase points, but leave them default. The bad thing about changing enemy points is that you will limit him to the points selected, no matter how expensive your 50 unit force becomes. The default will assure that he works off what your force costs for every particular battle, which is what most of us want.

The way I was told that the AI will purchase it's units in response to what you purchase. You can buy less than the maximum available and that should solve the problem.
Retreat is NOT an option.

REMF suggestion ensure that it would be a fair fight with each having the oportunity to have a balanced force with no unfair advantage.

Thanks for your help

Thanks for the information. What was confusing me is that I could not figure out any way to access the preferences screen after I selected the WWII campaign. By selecting the preferences BEFORE selecting the campaign allows for smaller forces. Now it seems obvious that I should have tried this, but for some reason it seemed logical to me that I should set the preferences after choosing the campaign and starting date. Thanks again!!
