While running the combat results have you ever noticed that some of your TFs react to enemy carriers and turn tail and run? When it's time to run your next turn there is nothing on the map to coincide with the report of carriers. On the other hand the other player gets the same report of your TFs reacting. Is this the fog of war or is it a program error?

22 hits no replies. So this isn't happening to anyone but Tocaff and me?

It is happening repeatedly in our current game. We get regular messages during the resolutiuon phase that our TFs are reacting to an enemy carrier task force only to find on our turns that there is no spotted enemy carrier task force.

What we can't figure out is that if the apparent enemy carrier TF is spotted well enough for our active TFs to react to it then why the hades isn't it spotted well enough to be shown as a spotted TF on our next turn? And, conversely if there is no enemy carrier TF spotted well enough to become an icon on the map during our turns then why the hades are our TFs reacting to it?

It would seem that our transport TFs are better informed about the enemies whereabouts than our command staffs and they are keeping the info to themselves.

Perhaps program omission might be more accurate.

I can report now that there is/are Japanese CV(s) since they're now known because of Allied shipping sent to the bottom.

Still no ideas?

TF´s given a transport mission when set to ¨retirement allowed¨ react to enemy carrier TF´s by retreating towards their home base.

I've seen that from the Allied side; it seems the transports try to continue w/their mission on the next turn, but if they still detect CV TFs, they retreat/retry until their fuel runs low and they return to their point of origin.

Unfortunately, the program sees the cvtfs and implements the react rules whether or not they've been spotted in the case of cvtfs where they react towards each other or in the situation that Ike mentioned. Gamey types can use merchant tf pickets set on retire to protect the space between Oz and Noumea.
