Map Makers.....

Post by Mad Russian »

I need someone that can make PC maps for some of my scenarios until the upcoming map editor is fully functional and I can do it without learning 3 sets of software to do it myself.

Anyone interested? I can provide the documentation for the maps if you're interested. I don't do the normal battlefields...having said that I'm very interested in the area around Prochorovka....

Some of my old HSG scenarios for CM are just shouting to be converted over to PC...first thing I need is a map.

So, if this interests you let me know.

Good Hunting.

Erik has said they'd like to add a map maker in the next game release in series.

In the meantime Stridor has been going through tutorials for those who are interested in jumping into it with 3rrd party tools.

MR,

I'd jump at the offer but I need to finish my Singling Map before taking on any other projects. Besides, I'm still learning the ropes and when I'm done with my map I should be able to help you ... but I can't say when that will be. I'm pretty much slightly ahead of Stridor's tutorial's to give you an idea where I'm at.

Also, how much help do you need ? ... Do you need a map built to the point where you can use the Scene Editor to add your own objects, ie 1 tool for you to learn instead of 3 ?

I don't know Rob. I wasn't aware of the Scene Editor being different. Haven't got that far along yet. It doesn't make mention of it in the rules book. Guess I'll have to go and look at that aspect of the game next.

I just know I'm not the least bit interested in learning several software programs to build a map. Especially, when PC will come with it's own map maker soon enough.

Ok. Well, I can help with one map to get you going. My Singling map is very complicated so it's going to take me awhile since I'm trying to match every detail down to a grain of sand.

If you want a basic map, using basic vanilla Pck stuff, then making a map for you is simple. The only part that really needs to be exact is the terrain mesh. Once that's to satifactory condition the rest is a snap and the rest can be modded easily after that ... ie new object's, new images, etc.

So, if you'd like to PM me the details of one map with any specific instructions I can get one done for you and PM the progress back so you can look at it in the Scene Editor or run a scenario to view it. By the way, I suggest the Scene Editor (instruction on use in manuals folder, Map Editing Addendum. pdf) so you can view it a little better .. but either way.

Let me know because it'll be great to get your scenario out fully loaded.

Mad Russian has a lot of scenarios planned - if you're willing to help him out with maps I'm sure it could be a very productive relationship. One thing to consider is starting by picking out existing meshes for heavy Scene Editor modification if they are suitable. There's a pretty good mix of contours in the sets we have.
