Game time limit

AGEOD’S American Civil War - The Blue and the Gray is a historical operational strategy game with a simultaneous turn-based engine (WEGO system) that places players at the head of the USA or CSA during the American Civil War (1861-1865).

Post by R.E.LEE »

Planning on getting this one as i own FOF, and love that game..but first i have an important ? i hate time limits and VP wins, when playing the whole campaing do you get to fight to the bitter end,or to total conquest if that is what you desire, its very important to me and is a big reson i keep playing FOF in a patch they made an optiion so you could fight almost indeffinetly.many thanks

Hi!

Yes you can continue playing as long as you want. All AGEOd games let you do this.
When the scenario turn limits are reached (or before if you meet the victory/defeat objectives) the game will show you a victory/defeat screen with the result.
But after that you can continue playing.
Of course, once you pass the historical end date of the war the game will not have more historical events or reinforcements, but in theory you can play the ACW until the XXI century!! [:D]

How realistic would it be to continue to play without being able to get more reinforcements?

Hi
I mean you don't get free historical reinforcements (you get some of this by event, specially at campaign start) or historical leaders after 1865.. as they can't be "historic" [:'(]
Of course you (and the AI) still produce money, conscripts and war supplies so you can continue to raise new units and buy ships, guns...
Leaders would be the main problem as after 1865 there are no new generals appearing... still, you can fight with Lee, Grant and co until 2008 if you would want to... [:D] as i don't think they have a historical death date set.

In any case, this "continue playing" is cool to get some extra turns to "finish" your campaign or scenario the way you want... i don't think anybody will want to play the war past and extra year or so...
Regards

I'm just the opposite: a chronic restarter! [:D]
I don't think i had never played to the end any of this "long campign" games (EU, HOI, CIV, AACW....)
Usually once i'm doing too well i get bored and restart.. or if i´m doing too bad i restart to do it better next time [:D]
I must have restarted AACW dozens of times...[X(]

Why would you want to continue playing? This isn't Civilization.[8|]
