Talonsoft vs Matrix version Napoleonic Wars

Post by rictavian »

I have the old Talonsoft titles NIR, Waterloo & PTW. Should I consider purchasing the Matrix version and if so, why, what makes it superior?

They just patched it with the 32 bit engine upgrade and the patches, it was a re-release.  I believe there maybe some issues with old versions and new versions trying PBEM together.  One good thing it has done is stirred interest in the series again as well as allow the MODS to be published to the web again.  Most can be found here:

Actually, we did a bit more than that - we worked with John Tiller to update it so it would run properly on Vista, which the old versions do not.

I recommend the mods above - especially Greg Gorsuch Eylau mod, which was the very first Battleground mod to appear (was it about 1999 - 2000?), or the 1813 campaign - where else can you replay the other most fateful campaign of Napoleon?

Edit: I'd have to download all the mods and place them on a DVD - websites tend to disappear :(

I bought this and the ACW version even though I already own all of them. I was just investing in some fine games.
