Forts

Post by kirk1227 »

I am just curious behind the defense bonus thinking on forts with regards to quick combat. If I understand correctly(and I may very well be wrong here)if I move into a province that contains a fort, the def. gets a bonus for that fort or forts. Now I can understand the logic behind that if I declare a siege of that fort but a province is a large area. Why is it assumed that the battle is going to take place close enough for that fort or forts to have any effect.? Thanks kirk

It's an abstraction.  In this case, forts represent defensive infrastructure over the entire province and "a battle" represent many of the various battles that might actually have taken place in that province over the turn.

ok, thanks eric. So, the "forts" in quick combat are more of an abstraction than in an actual sieges. In quick combat you are having to battle the increased def. infrastructure represented by the forts(I assume inc. supplies, logictics etc)as opposed to a siege where you are actually supposed to be going up againt some kind of fortification. Thanks again. Just trying to get my head around the game so I can get more proficient. I think my next annoying question will have something to do with artillery:) kirk
