Is this possible?

Post by Philbill1 »

I just watched a combat replay in my PBEM game.
It was a carrier battle Lexington and Yorktown versus
The Shok,Zuik and shoho.
I got react to enemy and first strike of 3 wildcats
75 divebombers and 25 TBD. I got multiple hits on all 3 carriers
all showing heavy damage. Indeed the program reported shoho sinking at the end.
The return strikes showed NO HITS on my 2 carriers.
As you can imagine I was feeling quite pleased with myself when I loaded up to play.
I clicked on my Air combat TF to find no AC indeed both carriers were missing and listed as sunk in the
Intelligence screen? Is this posible? I know there is fog of war but my carriers were not hit at all
Surely what I see on my own ships is the truth and even if it wasent that’s a huge error margin.
Also Shoho was not sunk and an APD he hit with 5 bombs was completely unscathed.
As you can imagine I am a little concerned and would appreciate feedback on this

Unusual...

Philbill,

That's quite unusual. There is a combined replay in the PBEM at present, so it comes up with a single view of a battle that incorporates fog of war for both side. Still, that usually represents overestimates. I haven't seen the fog get so thick before as to show no hits at all on two sunk carriers.

I would suggest that you and your opponent send zipped saved games of your last orders phases along with the replay file in question (please zip everything!) to rossm@matrixgames.com. Please include a description of what Ross should look for and we'll see if we can find out what's going on.

Regards,
