Vista 32 or 64

Post by timewalker03 »

OK I am now to the point where I am going to purchase a new computer. I need advice of which way to go to get this game to play. Vista 32 or 64. For those who say XP please understand that when you buy a new computer now to get xp on it it will cost up to $300 more to get it and some companies only support 1 model of their comps to have it it a much increased price. So Vista it is. I hear 32 limits memory usage and 64 limits software do to drivers not available. Which way shouls I go?

That's true, and there's the rub.

32 bit limits the RAM cache to 4GB, which isn't a big deal, yet.

Does Maximum Football even run on a 64 bit Vista set up?  I don't know.

OK with that said I am getting a system with 3gb of ram. If all I have is 3gb then it shouldn't matter as I understand it. Is this correct or am I mistaken? I just don't want to spend 1k and end up with a system that for now is useless either way. Also since it lokks like Vista is here to stay, when are developers going to embrace this fact and begin working with it rather than avoiding it.

That is correct as memory goes.  There are other issues to consider, but that one is not a problem with 3GB memory.

Consider what you want the computer to do for the next two years and if you can upgrade it at that time.

For one grand, you better be getting a Quad processor and a wicked fast graphics card.

Developers are not avoiding Vista, but Vista is a pain in the butt for them.  Most games will not be set up with 64 bit in mind as long as XP is viable on many systems.

Yes Maximum Football works very well with a 64bit setup. I am running Vista 64bit and I have been able to find and install all of my drivers as well as run most of my programs and all of my games thus far. There are some programs that I use 3rd party programs for modding purposes that does not run properly on a 64 bit setup but I use a 32bit setup when I need to use those programs and then transfer them over to my 64bit setup which is my main gaming /everyday rig.[:)]
