This is actually an ATR, an after turn report.
I built a template for the L5W map, which included having Tanks setup in woods ... I never thought it would backfire on me!!
Situation :
RBG - Russian Attack / German Defend objective #5 (I haven't labeled my objectives yet)
Explaination of screenshot ...
1. T-34 on right hand side of map (behind oil tank) crosses over river and approaches thru the woods. Note the track histories. This left him 21m from infantry platoon which happened to be HOLDING FIRE ... my fault. The T-34 was facing to the right at end of orders phase. A good chance to try for a side shot from my AT gun (shown dead in bottom left corner).
2. Reaction Phase - I order the AT gun to fire ... T-34 buttons up's (must have seen me) and turns towards me.
3. BLAM-PING ... the AT gun fires and hits the front of T-34 ... no damage.
4. BLAM-CRASH ... the T-34 fires back and misses ... phew
5. BLAM-CRASH ... another T-34 fires from the woods across the river (unseen from before, this was the tank placement in woods template)
6. My AT gun hit !!!! end of story.
Anyway, I thought I'd share this. Apparently the T-34 in the woods (upper left, across river) was covering for the T-34 that ran across and came up out of the woods ... nice A/I move ... that was unexpected. Note, the river is hidden below so you might miss someone crossing, which I did as the T-34 zoomed in.
I'll have to review more on template design and make more Tank-in-woods setup ... the A/I appears to like this [:)].
Wish me luck on the next turn ... my INF platoon 21 meters away is going for an assault ... which I should have setup during the HOLD FIRE in the first place ... doh!!
