Canadian Rules Glitches

Post by Brockleigh »

1)I was playing a game yesterday. Stock Canadian Rules and field. Version 2.27.

Hamilton kicks a Field Goal and misses. Ball is fielded by London deep man and attempts to advance. Hamilton coverage man tackles the returner before he can get out of the end zone, and is in fact tackled about 4 yards behind the goal-line.

Under Canadian rules, this should be a single point for Hamilton and London should take over at their own 35. Instead the game awarded a safety to Hamilton, and London kicked off from their 20.

2)I have a kneel-down play in my playbook. Any time it's used or whenever a player is tackled behind the line of scrimmage in the last three minutes of a half, the clock continues to run. Under Canadian rules, inside the last three of either half, the clock stops regardless of where the runner is tackled, and does not restart until the ball is spotted.

I noticed this too, along with no Canadian players are generated by the game (which I already reported to David and recieved an answer)

That is correct.  I thought that was noted and cleared up a while ago, but perhaps not.  I have been going through the Canadian playbooks, but I have note been testing game items.

Again, that is correct.  Any dead ball stops the clock when inside the three minute warning.

1) This has been fixed in the beta builds.

2)You're correct, but keep in mind that the 'spotting of the ball' in this game is pretty much instant after the play. The ball is considered to have been placed when the play selection screen is displayed, so the clock would be running.

I might have been tired when I wrote this, as 'spotting the ball' is not how I meant that to come out. The game clock should stop and not restart until the referee whistles play in and starts the play clock. I understand that the play-calling screen is in effect when the referee whistles play in, but the clock doesn't stop at all after the QB takes a knee and is still running while the players are walking back to the huddle.

I've also come across a couple of instances where after a missed field goal, the return man has taken a knee to concede a single and the game clock continues to run. The clock should stop until the ball is snapped on the next play, just like any other change of possession.

I don't know that this is necessarily a rules issue, but I'm not seeing a whole lot of penalties other than Rough Play and 15-yard facemask penalties. There is the odd Procedure, and once in a blue moon someone will get called for holding (never on defense, though), but not much else. Are there any constants I can change to change what types of penalties are being called?

Lastly, I wonder how the game calculates Pass Interference, as I have seen some defenders out and out block some receivers from getting to a pass while the ball is in the air and there hasn't been a call.
