Why We Made The Manual?

Post by David Heath »

Hi

As I have been looking over the forum I see a lot of questions that can be easly answered if a little looking of the manual would take place. Bottom line is Brent Richards spent a lot and I mean a lot of time adding details to this manual with screen shots. We do not mind questions etc. on the manual but at least look at it. Gamers whine all the time about crappy manuals. Please take a look in the manual and if you can find what you need to know by all means ask....... but please take a little peek in the manual first.

Got to agree with you their. A lot of the questions that are asked could be found by just looking in the FAQs section of the manual. All it takes is a few menutes and a quick search useing the key word of your question.

The best, and most basic advice. First thing I did was print the begger & bind it. It takes a while, but I'm the kind of guy that needs a book on paper. It is nice to have it open while i'm trying new things.

Sounds like Bonzo has the is right idea.

I suppose we took long enough to download the game, a bit of time spent printing and then flicking through the manual would not hurt. Actually it might help my performance in the Blenheim scenerio. I'm getting a wolloping.

For anyone that is interested in this sort of area, I would recommend having a look at the Table of Organisation (TO&E)compiled by Scott Grasse.

Its a fantastic document and a hell of a work by Scott. I don't tend to linger to long on these sort of things but it was well worth the time to have a look. It will definitly be printed out for future reference (at work of course...it is 104 pages!)

There is a wealth of information in the manual. Not only the tutorial, but an explanation of every button we could find in the game.

There is a tutorial on scenario design, campaign design, and a Frequently Asked Questions section that will clarify a lot of things for you.

Then, yes, that fine, exhaustive piece of work by Scott Grasse on Tables of Organization for the varying countries (at least some of them) in SPWAW.

It is not only a manual, it is also a guide and a handy reference to so many things in the game.

It is worth the time to print and read. It will make the game so much more fun for you.

Good job, Brent Richards...a real labor of love for the hobby!

Yes he must have. It is by far and away the most complete and best manual ever done for any of the SP games. I should say I've not read the one for SPWW2 because I don't play it. A most excellant job Brent, thanks. Image

Hell, it's one of the best manuals done for any game in the last 5 years. Most games nowadays don't come with a printed manual, but instead go the .pdf way, if they include a manual at all. SP:WAW's manual is easy to read, informative and looks good. Thanks guys Image.

Is there any chance we could get an HTML(or WORD or TEXT) version of the manual?

The reason I ask is I'd like to load the beauty into my e-book.

Adobe has provided a PDF to HTML convertor but it is pretty weak.

Thanks in Advance!! BTW I agree with the majority. It is a first class piece of work.
