Demo Crashes

Post by wargamer123 »

Dear CEAW Crew,

I load up the demo... I start the first scenario, and after a few movements of armies and airunits, bam... Sound stops, and the Game Locks, screen is froze.

Game is running fairly slow also... Any common reasons for any of this

and by the way thumbs up making a demo

well, can't get the demo up and running, it requests a serial as if I had downloaded the game for one. For two it crashes immediately after loadup every time. Very annoying!

Sorry you are having problems. The demo only requires a serial to unlock it to the full version - if you dont have one it will start you in demo mode. What are your system specs? Have you got the latest drivers for your hardware? Are you using Vista? Have you right clicked on the desktop icon and said "Run as Administrator"?

I am running as Admin. I bypass the Serial by hitting the cancel button when it arises and requests, figuring as you have said, that will automatically run the demo.

My system is as such. 2.9 Pent 4, old Dell Dimension with a built on Intel Video, I have since put a 6200 Nvidia PCI regular card in and all the drivers are up to date. The audio is typical builton the motherboard jobby... There are no more up to date drivers, but at times I think that the Nvidia and the built on Intel may conflict one another and this is my only guess to what is causing the problem. Although I usually do not have issues with other programs or games running it. There is 1 gig of ram and plenty of harddrive space, plus Windows XP...

What sound card do you have? Often sound cards without up to date drivers cause problems because people don't realise they need to update those too.

I have a Dimension E310 built on Sound Card. Thing is that the manufacturer never really updated the driver. They dropped support on me a year after I bought the stupid machine and I am using the same software they originally bundled for the Machine. SO it's built on and there will never be an update for the sound card. It's a SigmaTel High Definition Audio Device as far as they tell me.

Apparently I know more about their specs than the manufacturer: I'm guessing since the Motherboard is Intel so is the POS SoundCard. However as far as I can tell it's never been the issue with a game, or it has been and there nothing I can do about it. I have tried swapping out Audio Cards to see if I had improved performance with other games an no Cigar.

and when I had issues with it and needed to repair it I did so personally. I am also an ex-parktime computer Technician

I'm not really sure what to suggest next. If an error.log is generated by the game you can send us that at info@slitherine.co.uk and we'll take a look but it seems like some odd machine specific conflict. Havbe you tried a re-install - maybe something is corrupted in the current installation?
