Korean War Mod update news

Post by Warhorse »

Well, after 3+ years of intense work, I just finished work on the unit text, and unit photo's of my mod, basically finishing it. I will be attempting next to do all the HLP files, but as I remember, they are a pain in the butt, requiring quite a few help-file authoring proggies to do this!! Does anyone have any ideas about that, or should I just make new unit help files based in Excel or something? I hope to send a cd to the Blitz, and hopefully Matrix, if interested for evaluation. I would like to really get some scenario's designed also, and eventually get Matrix to update the engine, if possible, last I knew the source code was missing? Anyhow, the end is finally in sight, the game is fully playable now, and will have all the txt/pics entries, although for some unknown reason, the US trucks pic shows in F2, but the txt doesn't. The ones before and after do, weird... Stay tuned!!

Thanks for the update. I've got the urge to play some Korea. I was looking through the scenario making files today to see if it is within my abilities. Not sure...

Wild Bill Wilder made scens for Steel Panthers, Tanks! construction set and I think Squad battles, that should be adaptable or at least give a scen maker ideas.

You might want to take a look at HPS' Korea Squad Battles game. It should be very useful because...let's face it....the Squad Battles game engine seems to be based on the Campaign game engine. Of Course John Tiller games all have a similar interface.

They are over at the blitz, I will post a heads-up here when the new version is up!! I believe the old version is still there, but may as well wait, since the new one has the unittxt/pic files. Thanks for your interest!

This is a very nice piece of work, thank you so much.  I have looked at your supplied 00yongnam scenario.  Wow, surely you could have found a Destroyer Escort to place on the lake, as I think every other unit is there.  Thanks again, and I will see what I can do about doing a small scenario.

Very sharp!

Thanks Chuck, the scenario was supplied by Chris Ratcliffe, a very good introduction if I might add!! I hope to make some also, if I can just find some time!

Hi Mike!

I followed your link to the Blitz.  Can this mod be used with Matrix's Campaign Series or just with Divided Ground?  If it's possible with MCS, how is it installed?

Thanks.

It is just for Divided Ground.

Stay tuned though!

Stefan, yes just install over the existing one, it should be ok. Probably better to delete the old one, and re-install to make sure though!!

Well, I couldn't stand it, and decided to drop the DG version of the Korean War Mod in lieu of one based on the JTCS version. I modified RS to take the Mod, and all seems to be good so far, the Banzai routine works well for the CCF Human Wave charge, and looks like all 18 countries took in the exe's!! Here's a Human Wave rally.

Well, the main problem is now Matrix is going to develope this using a modified engine and the country slots are different, so any scenario's made would conflict. I had wanted to release this version, but since it would not be compatible anyway, I decided to not go forward with it, instead devoting time to the one under developement. Thanks for your interest, and there will eventually be a better version of it, with many more capabilities than my mod had!!
