Market Garden Misc. Post

Post by Orzel Bialy »

I agree with GOBLIN...all my extra posts spoiled the mood...and I have slapped my own hand with a ruler 20 times as punishment for doing so! (perhaps Gmenfan can remove the non-battle related ones for us...is that possible???)

Anyway, this post can be the "Question/Feedback Zone" for all posts that are Market Garden related, but not action reports. Sound good? Any objections?

And while we encourage and want all our fellow SPWAW gamers to follow along and enjoy the battle...if you would all be so kind as to please post comments here instead of the game thread...we would appreciate it.
AND PLEASE DO POST HERE!!!... I think I speak for everyone involved when I say that just knowing that we are doing something that the community at large finds entertaining is a real thrill! :) So we enjoy the feedback...don't hold back or stop!

OK then. Back to business.

Jess & FJ...did my files get through this time?

It was me that fussed, Orzel. This thread is a good idea, but I disagree about the posts from readers. They should post right there in the thread. Same with related posts from us. I just hated seeing the technical/lost turn/email addy stuff in there.

to do is fine with me as far as postings go. ;) I just figured this would keep it really nice and clean...but I understand your "the fans should be able to get involved too" theme Gob...it's the right call. :)

Moved from other thread:

This thread would be awesome if you could post screenshots. Maybe use the honor system and promise not to look at your opponent's screenies? :D

Turn 2 ends...turn 3 being primed....

Post by Orzel Bialy »

I have sent the files to Jess and FJ for turn 3 to start...

Jess....I understand and agree with your call on the arty "scene"...and not just because I am playing the side of the Germans! ;) No disrespect to the opinions of my co-players intended...but I just thought I'd voice up.

As this is basically a battle for bridges that are in confined "town" areas...too much or too powerful of arty units could have unbalanced the game greatly. Too many, although perhaps historically correct, batteries could allow opponents to sit back and blast everything to pulp...and where is the fun in that? Right? :)

Don't get me wrong, I too would love a bit more...especially to pump into those landing zones and approaches...but such is the nature of the beast. Just have to cope with what we have the best we can.

An attack against a fixed defense requires poundin the defenses to mush. After viewing the enemy lines with the paradrops planes, I find it hard to believe I can come up that road with four SP guns.

Come on now Gob....

Post by Orzel Bialy »

don't sound too doubtful...there are several people who voted that you and FJ would kick mine and Hellcat's butts! ;) :D

I understand what you are saying though...but we have to trust that Jess gave us all forces that would make for an exciting battle that allows both sides a chance to prevail. ;)

I believe the mortars that hit my units outgun my entire Corp artillery. Why wouldn't I worry? I didn't say I wasn't gonna push on anyways, but !!!!!!!!

the scene

Post by hellcat »

Gob's guys are jammed up as the mine clear tanks move into action... shermans grind to a halt, hatches open, commanders pop their heads out to see what the commotion is... plop plop mortar rounds down the hatch... kaboom!

anyways - who took me mortar school recently anyhow Mr. Goblin???

VENTING!!!!!

My SP artillery pieces (of sh!t) fire only twice in a round!! I have 4! I want just one 3" mortar! It fire faster, more accurately, and MORE ROUNDS!! I will trade all four of them for one mortar!! I have now SHOT the commander who planned an assault on defensive positions with this much arty!!!

Ahhhhh! Thats better! Thanks for listening.
