Questions

Post by LokiusMaximus »

I just bought Advanced Tactics yesterday. I find it very addicting and though doesn't have the "realism" of say Steel Panthers, it is an amazing strategy game. I do have a couple issues though. They really aren't technical support, but this seemed like the best forum for this.

First, I played the 1941 Eastern Front scenario as the Germans. Every time I would capture a major russian city, they would do "scorched earth." I don't have a problem with this because it is realistic. I couldn't find it in the manual, so what I was wondering is if in time, will those cities that were destroyed become useable for production? I am only to February of 1942, but I totally repaired a city with engineers and so far nothing has happened.

My next is more of a complaint than anything. Why doesn't this game allow people to watch the AI playing after a players turn? Watching it count from step 1 to step 50 (as has occurred in the world at war scenario) gets boring very fast. I usually find myself going to windows and looking at the internet during the AIs turn. Most games have it where you watch what the AI is doing, but you only see what you'd see if it was your turn (so if they move units in the fog, then all you see is the general location). It is very annoying to read the losses report and have no idea where it is that you units were destroyed. Yeah, you can find them after browsing the map a bit, but it is a pain.

First, welcome to the game!

1941 Scenario - the "scorched earth" will never produce for you, but your Production Multiplyer for all your original cities goes up every time you capture Russian cities. Just look at your original three cities, you should see something like "4000 (112%)". This means that stuf you produce is now cheaper, meaning you can produce more. The Scorched Earth event was written just of this scenario which is why it's not in the manual.

AI turn display - discussed a lot on here, just looks through the forums.

History - do you know there is a "History" button that will show you what happened where during the AI turn? It's on the far right on he command buttons on the main screen and looks like an open book. Click on that and it will show you all the moves the AI made that your units could see and the results of all the battles.

Have fun![8D]
