As before, if it was there in real life, it's there in the game. Akashi was it.

EDIT: I just looked in the database, and you actually get one more, the Yamabiko Maru. That's it, because that's what the Japanese had. They didn't get much out of Akashi either; she was torpedoed and lost in 1942.

The IJN only had ONE AR???  Hahahahahaha!  I wondered why it had such a high VP total when my carrier dive bombers blew it out of the water near Kwajalein...

<<<<shakes fist at lansford!!!!!>>>>

i dont know whether it actually repaired anything in my old PBEM but i suppose now theres two something might get fixed. Is there a threshold on supplies before which the ARs start to repair something - ie 25000 before repairs will start?

I thought the Japanese could make unlimited AR's by converting big AK's. Is that gone in AE???

Things are very different and more complicated, concerning conversions, but regarding AR's, you can convert some. I answered a post regarding purpose-built AR's, of which Japan built and operated exactly one.

Are there any US Army Ships included in AE? Apparently over 1000 of the Army's fleet was over 1000 tons such as USARS Duluth.

Yes, we know that. It was of very low repair capability, so we didn't include it, since making it a full AR would have overrated it massively.

As for undercovergeek's question, the limit is how many ships you want to use. However, the pool of available Jap ships (of the type you can convert to AR) has shrunk rather spectacularly, since we now have a larger number of different Jap AK types, and you need them for other, more important roles.

Actually, the old turn of the century BB Asahi was converted into an AR in 1937-1938.  Stationed at Camranh Bay and shuttled between there and Kure.  So it should be in AE as a 2nd Japanese AR, or at least as a tender of some time perhaps?

It did have the heavy lifting equipment available to it, and did assist Naka at Singapore after that ship had been torpedoed. It's also interesting to note that they built wooden 'turrets' onto the ship to simulate the ship still being armed as an old BB.

As stated previously, we know about the Asahi. I've sent our Sultan of Auxiliaries (JWE) a PM about it.

EDIT: I've talked to JWE about the Asahi, and we've decided to stick to the present line-up. All available sources concur that the Asahi was of limited utility, and rating her as a full AR would overvalue her. Consider her modder fodder.

I'm guessing the code won't allow for an AR lite version then. Tis a shame, but not one that can't be easily fixed once I get my hands on the editor.
