Urgent (game stopper): Spurious "awaiting results" msg

Post by gwheelock »

Our pbem group is getting a spurious "awaiting results from France for battle of Hamberg"
message at the start of the game & it's preventing the Russian player from making
his move. (His army is in Hamberg).

There is NO current battle going on in Hamberg. There were >2< battles in APRIL 1806
one from the French move & one from the Russian. It is now back to the Russian turn
in MAY 1806 (that's probably why the message just started popping up).

Marshall; could you tweek these files to remove whatever the program is looking
for. (& whatever is causing this needs to be put on the next fix list ... most of our players -esp Russia & France - are on 1.02K so this is still a bug )

the game pw for France is "heaven"

Thanks in advance

I should point out that NOT all players were running 1.02K when the dual-battle turn occurred. So, it is possible that the fix pre-dates K.

I do not know if Russia was running K. Gwheelock can tell us if he was running K at the time of last month's battles or not.

Britain (me) was the first person to see the message. I only see it at three times:

When I click on the Hamburg area.
When I click on the La Rochelle area (France and GB fought a battle here in May 1806).
When I load the saved game at the very beginning.

I WAS running K when I got into the battle, and I also was running K when they fought their two battles. I don't know if that's relevant.
At LAST! The greatest campaign board game of all time is finally available for the PC. Can my old heart stand the strain?

Russia was running k. I have been running k since k came out and j before that. I try to stay updated when the patches come out. :)

I haven't tried anything yet to resolve this problem. I will try maybe tonight.

Yes I (France) was running K. I don't know if it could have been due to someone (other than you, me or Russia) not
running k; but anyone other than myself & Russia shouldn't even see anything about battle files (as opposed to the
land-combat summery info).

You might be only seeing this 3 times; but you are not trying to move the army that is IN HAMBERG
(remember - that is his main combat army vs France)

Sorry. I didn't mean "3 times". What I meant was at three EVENTS:

Clicking on Hamburg
Clicking on La Rochelle (this one is no longer happening, though)
Beginning of game load (right after clicking the "resume" button on the main windo)

Try going into the Battles folder and deleting the old battle files for that location..
has worked for me in the past..

I tried this, this fixed a problem we had in the past, but this did not work this time, it still says "Awaiting Battle File From France in Hamberg".

I tried putting the last battle file I had with France in Hamberg in the battles folder and that didn't fix the problem either. Even when I clicked "End of Phase", my file directory opened to ...\battles and I manually loaded the battle file and then it just said that "The Battle has not concluded", even though it has and it's been a whole month.

This is some kind of bug.

It looks like that did it - I'm not getting the message anymore.

Many thanks Marshall.

OK, now that's not fair, Marshall. You've got at least two programmers posting to you here: We want to know what the bug was.

LOL!
I have mandatory wait states in PBEM combat that "should" clear but are/were not. I manually cleared this from my debug build. I do have this fixed in 1.03.

Sweet! Thanks again Marshall for the time and the files, much appreciated!! I'd love to see this game to the end.
