How do you get RHS to work?

My game won't recognize it. I am updated to the most current patch, and even reinstalled the game (thats another story) Anyway I try to install to the WIP folder, but when I load the game nothing is recognized. What am I doing wrong?

You need to make a separate install for RHS. I have 4 installs of my computer - Original/Big B, CHS, RHS, and Empires Ablaze.

most likely the shortcut you can add when you install the mod.
It doesn't make any sense, Admiral. Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?

As the others have set, first, give your stock file a temporary name, (WITP ORIGINAL, etc), then, install the game again..Then, install the RHS to that file....Now, rename your RHS file to...WITP RHS etc, then, go back to your original WITP and rename it back to it's true name (WITP)..Be sure to now give the desktop icon for WITP-RHS it's own name or the 2 will only open the original WITP file.(THIS IS CRUCIAL!)..[;)]

Not sure about RHS - but in other mods, you do NOT want to install a second time, rather just copy the folder to a new location, then give it an appropriate name. Running a second installation can sometimes (not always) give you a fatal error, screwing up everything.

Once it is created and renamed, go into the folder, create a new shortcut, move it to desktop, and rename the shortcut appropriately.

This works well for CHS (using Xp - not sure how VISTA would like this.)

This is why I did a reinstall. How exactly do I remane the file? I had renamed the folder old WiP once, but on a reinstall, the new and old versions just used the same .exe file. I tried to put the RHS into the new WiP folder but it made no difference. So:

1. What file do I have to rename?

2. Do I keep the RHS file in its own folder or put it in the WiP folder? The instructions say that it dosen't matter, but I just can't get the game to detect the RHS stuff.

To rename a file, look at the directory of your main hard drive where you see Matrixgames..Click on it and you will find the files for ...."Matrix games" which live on that directory..At least one should say WITP..To rename a file, put your cursor on the file you are going to rename and mouseclick right..You are given options, one being to "rename".......Click that and a box opens, allowing you to "rename"..
If you are not sure how to rename a file, I suggest you get someone to help you.

This works fine with Vista as well, although I did have to copy the original file from the Matrix Games directory to my user directory in order to rename it. I hadn't run into this behavior on Vista before but this is an easy workaround. For RHS I would recommend using the installer from the RHS website. Last time I used the installer, however, it did insist on the directory being Matrix Games/War in the Pacific rather than letting me define the path.

After you have installed it this way, you can then rename it with -RHS at the end...(And the desktop icon as well.)
