River City Arena

Post by garysorrell »

Here is a simple indoor arena. It is VERY loosely modeled after the old Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Jacksonville, FLA. My oldest son and I attended AF2 games there in season 1 of the Tomcats.

Anyway, it doesnt necessarily look like the old VMC, but the building walls at the end of the field are similar. Although in the real arena, you literally hit the wall at the back line of the endzone.

All the textures are editable.

Thanks so much Gary. I am so glad to have an arena again. That looks really good. It looks like the Idaho Vandals arena except this is for AFL not NCAA.

Gary could you add a wall around the field like in the AFL? Other than that this field is great.

I think his stadiums are for an 8-man indoor/outdoor league without the boards.

I probably should have put the necessary stuff to do that in the extras folder. But, you can do that yourself.

(The following should work with any of my 50 yd arenas. I just dont use the wall because im designing the stadiums to be more like traditional 8 man ball that many high schools play. But, in keeping with what is great about Maximum Football, you can change it and do it your way.)
You will need the unpacked arena for the following.

Go to the River City Arena folder, or whatever you may have renamed it to if applicable.
Open the stadiumdata.txt and add this line somewhere among the lines that start with MESH:

MESH:wall.x:0:0

Then move the following files from the unpacked arena folder to the River City Arena folder:
ad_0.jpg thru ad_6.jpg
wall.x
s31.bmp
s32.bmp
s34.bmp

As soon as I get my old website back up, I will just put a zip of the necessary stuff and instructions to do so up for anybody that wants it. But that could be a while, so until then this is how it works.

Glad you like the arena. I was thinking Iowa Barnstormers also, when I built it. Old aircraft hangar kind of thing.

Besides the image at each end that has the pressbox and scoreboard and stuff on it, there is also a big image on either side....figured people could dress up the large walls with ads, team/league stuff or whatever.

Im trying also, to keep the stadiums low poly so people can use them on older PCs. I have a reasonably powerful PC, so I dont want to get carried away. But, I do like to use more textures than usual so people can have more bleacher walls and other things to customize. Not sure yet how that may affect some folks. I havent seen a difference in frames between my stadiums and some of local8h and Davids.

Gary did you mean jepg or bmp? I tried it with bmp and it didn't work so now I am going to try it in jpeg. Jpeg doesn't work either still no walls. Gary I then used your fans in the unpacked arena to see if they would work and I got a white fans again.

As you can see from the picture the fans in one little area are white. Does anyone have this problem with River City Arena? I have it on bothe sides of the field about two rows down from the top for about one row of fans. I downloaded the arena again and it still does this.

Im sorry about the misprint, my bad. The S files are bmps. This is how it should have read:

Go to the River City Arena folder, or whatever you may have renamed it to if applicable.
Open the stadiumdata.txt and add this line somewhere among the lines that start with MESH:

MESH:wall.x:0:0

Then move the following files from the unpacked arena folder to the River City Arena folder:
ad_0.jpg thru ad_6.jpg
wall.x
s31.bmp
s32.bmp
s34.bmp

Dont forget the wall.x file, it needs to be added to the River City Arena also
