Here are the air losses. As you can see here also, Swift was very passively. Those losses mostly result because of my offensive actions, not because he tried to strike back.

And here are the ship losses:

The IJN has lost:

BB 1
CA 1
DD 21
APD 3
SS 2

Allied losses:

CV 1
BB 3
BC 1
CA 14
CL 13
DD 58
SS 41

the rest are transports, MSW some patrols... especially the cruisers that are lost must hurt Swift, he needs them to escort his CVs in the coming year. Perhaps this gives my Betties some more chances...

I guess I have sunk nearly two dozen subs at Manila, therefor the high number of Allied subs lost. I can only hope that Swift will keep thinking that his sub mine laying campaign is a success (never seen Allied subs doing so few damage = no damage) than in this game. If I compare it to my IJN game against Hortlund, my Allied subs on patrol have sunk 150 Japanese ships more than Swift´s subs have sunk at this date. Several of his BBs were damaged during his attack on Johnston Island, so IMO the situation isn´t really bright for my opponent. I have already informed him that I will attack Russia, after activation he will have two weeks time to redeploy his troops.

The Aussie division that was forced to retreat and two dozen of base forces are defending Brisbane and that´s it. Wooden hex and level 9 forts probably but what if I get in some good naval bombardments? Will start flying some recon to prepare a nuke... First I have to fight down the two dozen mini TFs that are sitting there though...

Voilà, the next round again three dozen mini TFs at Brisbane... [8|] I told Swift that I will ignore any rants about me using the same tactic later on. an understrenght Australian div a couple of units with assault value 0 and 20 base forces, mostly understrenght in infantry is holding Brisbane. No comment on the outcome. We can´t do bombardments as our enemy has still two dozen mini TFs there that act as anti bombardment shields... [8|]

torps miss, lucky AR. Swift has parked a couple of subs in and around Rockhampton. Moved in two ARs to save the CL that is still afloat but at 74 sys, 78 flt. Also moved in a nav HQ. Port is a level 5, so chances shouldn´t be that bad to save the ship but who knows. We have spotted CL Newcastle and CL Adelaide at Brisbane now, this means my opponent has moved in more ships. So a couple of CLs (probably with DD escort) and two dozen mini TFs consisting of one or two MSW, PG, barges... are now shielding Brisbane from naval bombardments. We have half a dozen CAs with a dozen DDs on the way to Rockhampton at the moment. The Allied will lose a lot more throw away ships and we will lose more precious cruisers and destroyers I fear. BB Musashi was completed today. With one BB lost and Yamato and Musashi completed we have now one BB more than at the start of the war.

Brisbane will be impossible to take if we have to face all those mini TFs shielding the port against naval bombardments. But we have 3 AA units on the move to this stack and they will arrive within the next 5 days. Then I guess this will at least stop the daily air attacks on our inf units. If not, then we will take down 100 aircraft within a week or force the bombers to bomb at heights where they don´t do much damage...

Soon we will have to take our divisions back to use them to defend the Empire at already prepared positions.

Using small tfs like is definitely in the gamey area. But I think it serves to at least partially alleviate the joke that is the nuke bombardment.

Besides he has to run out of ship eventually. [;)]

yeah, I have thought about the nuke as well. [8|]

I doubt that he will run out of barges or the throw away ships he has there. Situation has changed today though! BB Valiant was spotted at Brisbane. CL Newcastle and Adelaide are probably escort for Valiant.

the Australian Army that I have cut off West of Charter Towers gets a horrible adjusted av. They are surely completely out of supply and the nearly daily air attacks seem to have paid off. We still take more losses with our attack, while the two attacking divs took only very few casualties, the three para regiments and the nav guard unit (worth some 220 assault points) got completely shredded, now being nearly 50% disabled with 5% deaths.

Non of the defending units surrendered so far, but with this result I´m pretty sure that I will get them to surrender within the next month. This will mean we have accomplished one of our goals with our invasion of Australia (at first only aimed at taking the bases in the North). In this pocket the enemy will lose 3 Australian divs, a bgd and several smaller units like the Darwin defense bgd.

Defending force 40160 troops, 95 guns, 1 vehicles, Assault Value = 945

Japanese max assault: 1031 - adjusted assault: 445

Allied max defense: 631 - adjusted defense: 39

Japanese assault odds: 11 to 1

Japanese ground losses:
1892 casualties reported
Guns lost 36
Vehicles lost 1

Allied ground losses:
461 casualties reported
Guns lost 8
Vehicles lost 1

amazing to see that even though the units only have an adjusted av of 39 they still inflict horrible losses within my units. The para rgts and the nav guard unit are down to an average of 15/85 strenght... and still no sign of the cut off defenders to surrender...

RE: WITP in the Alps! Swift (A) vs. Castor Troy (J)

Post by castor troy »

I´m really sick of PBEMs when I have to keep on arguing about players endlessly trying to exploit the game engine. My "he has just suffered a 6:1 autoloss" opponent Swift just keeps sending out of fuel PTs to attack my shipping.

How can someone really think that it´s okay to operate ships out of their range? [8|] WHO CARES? I WON, he´s the loser...[:@]

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 01/13/43

Night Time Surface Combat, near Rockhampton at 46,109

Japanese Ships
CA Takao
CA Maya, Torpedo hits 1, on fire
CL Agano
CL Kuma
CL Tama
CL Kiso
DD Shiratsuyu
DD Yudachi
DD Samidare, Torpedo hits 2, and is sunk
DD Oboro
DD Ushio
DD Kisaragi

Allied Ships
PT PT-143
PT PT-145
PT PT-164, Shell hits 10, and is sunk

but of course I could endlessly argue about the id*otic routine that overrated those PTs. Have done that often enough, it´s BS to lose the whole IJN for the loss of 250 Allied PTs. We had TACTICAL ADVANTAGE...

OH! Perhpas I should mention the super duper tactic of three dozen mini throw away TFs at Brisbane...

You know what? I´m really sick of it...

Impossible to come up with 300 hrs at game´s start as you can´t think about every BS people can come up with. Hey, new hr: "don´t use ships outside of their range"...

and the never ending story about a mine laying sub entering a base hex (where subs are soooo vulnerable ! LOL) and attacking a MSW there. 90% of the time is this happening. But hey, of course I´m the only one that is recognizing this. The rest of the players say: subs in base hexes are more vulnerable. That´s what the "devs"? told them and THEY know the code

HEY, using the same BS as my opponent. Sending in bombers at bright daylight to mine a port, completely immune to enemy CAP...

another attack that proves that the common thinking on the forum is so often wrong. HEY, always the strongest unit in a stack is attacked. There are 2000+ assault points in this hex, but as yesterday an AA rgt with 0 assault value is attacked... and wrecked like the one yesterday of course.

Hey, I know, it´s the special WITP copy...

Want to know why we sweep Brisbane? Because KB parks 4 hexes North of Brisbane to launch 200 bombers against BB Valiant but you know what? Swift´s Bull Shit exploit of having three dozen mini TFs there just screws up everything again.

Excellent weather and all the blah blah... of course we have seen this before... of course this BS tactic has nothing to do with the fact that everything gets screwed up! no no!

It´s a pity that half of the PBEMs end up with "trollelites" playing each other, trying to exploit every single BS routine the devs came up with. Swift told me he thinks it´s okay to use PTs that are out of fuel because they still operate near the coast. I didn´t tell him what I think he is, I only told him he should drive his out of fuel PTs up the coast and past all the islands right to Singapore to attack my shipping there... out of fuel stays out of fuel and all he´s doing is to completely exploit the game...

Hey, remember, I´m the one who has won 5,9:1 just 14 days ago... man, I must be the number one trollelite exploit gamer of the world... It will be a pleasure to crush the Russians in three months with every exploit I can find. And I´m sure I will find a silly explanation for everything. Perhaps I will just say: this game is so far away from reality anyway, I will conquer the whole map. Possible against the AI why shouldn´t it be possible here. The only time I seem to get my a$$ kicked is when my opponent comes up with such a BS to save his a$$ because 100 previous decisions were just plain wrong.

Can you hear how pissed I am? This is not my usual rant, I´m just pissed.

Don´t know what Swift is up to but the worst height he can attack is at max height, even though the 2 Zeroes can´t reach the bombers. Though the Tojos can, claiming two kills over the atoll and another 7 bombers lost A2A and another one to ops bringing the total B-17 losses to 10 today. We lose two Tojos on the ground, one pilot is killed. Would he attack at 10000 ft he would lose 2 or 3 bombers more to flak but would torch 50 aircraft on the ground. Serves me well... 53 bombers damaged 10 destroyed buys me a week time...

we moved in 3 AA rgts and now the third is totally wrecked, down to 12/89... [8|] can´t believe that in four days all 3 AA units were wrecked... so much to the myth about what units in a stack get attacked...

I've kinda given up on trying to figure out which units are more likely to get hit on ground attack. I used to think it had more to do w/ unit is freshest (lowest disruption/fatigue) than which one is the strongest. Never believed in "strongest gets attacked" myself.
