night 4E Bombing in AE

Post by Cavalry Corp »

OK so is there going to be some restriction on allied B17 etc doing this all the time In my existing PBEM in Dec42 it the way the allied player is wearing me down , no CAP can stop them - nothing

Please advise , I was hoping the night ops would get a haul over ??

Considering all the GIMMES the Japanese Player already has in this game (systemically and otherwise) I think you should just get over it and get on with playing.

As many a noted JFB would say "if you just want to repeat history watch a movie or read a book".

Actually cavalry, from what I have read, the servicability rates for aircraft will be much lower so the allies will have many more damaged aircraft than before. That in itself will change what you are seeing a lot.

plus FLAK will be more effective, essentially giving you a fighting chance...

Night air ops are too powerful (though I am still playing the stock 1.8 version of the game). My opponent and I have simply outlawed any night bombing except against cities.

The game allows you to kill 40-50 aircraft a turn bombing airbases otherwise, and that simply never happened on a sustainable basis in the real war.

I think Betties are too effective at torpedo attacks, lets ban them from Naval Attack!!!

More time should be spent looking at why they are so effective. You are losing 40-50 planes every night, is you base overcrowded?? Do you have any AAA defenses or CAP?  They should at least disrupt the attacking bombers. Plus Japanese NF were pretty abysmal until 1945ish.

2E night fighters would only be effective if they have radar, on the alied side ony the p-70, P-61 and specialised Beaufighter NF Sqns should be equipped, the hellcat NF version also had radar so should also have an advantage.

Within the system, what handicap do you get for night missions? Less chance of finding the target, lower accuracy of bombing, lower sortie rate????

IMHO, I believe HE bombs are too effective, effect eems to be bomb weight in pounds, I think this should be lowered to say explosive weight in pounds (about 50% of overall)
