The Luftwaffle has suffered its greatest defeat. 8 of the Luftwaffles finest fighter airwings have been training too close to the front and have been destroyed on the ground. Only 3 fighter wings managed to engage the enemy but they were out numbered and could not save the airfield.

Oh Dear! TB3 or B17?

I understand how to train air groups, but how do you train ground forces?

I was within fighter range and then was hit with everything. Tom1939 has a new allie against me, my kids, lol.

The only training I do with ground forces is with armor. I mix and well exp units with lower exp units. The old hands need to teach the recuits there old tricks.

Allies are so fickle! Give them some ice cream and I am sure they will return to your side!

Trainng ground units: Ahh, so you just pair low exp forces with high exp forces and use them. Am I understanding correctly?

Those kids are fine and very stable allies of our patriotic war. They are highly decorated for this. They got their second hero of the sovietunion medal for leting our air force attack the Luftwafe with its pants down. The first one was for destroying the enemy's notes in a cruical situation.

The Luftwaffle has had to retreat and awaits reinforcements.  The sky now belongs to the VVS and we dread the comming attack.

The red army advanced to make contact with the enemy on all fronts. With the support of the VVS we tried to encircle and destroy a medium strength panzer korps near Kiev, but the swamps annihilated the coordination of our troops. The panzer korps survived, but it is somewhat weakened by our attacks. The enemy used an single elite fw unit for air defence, making our air losses 2,5 times bigger then their losses.

Both sides airforce are in check with neither side flying air missions. The Soviets are advancing on all fronts.

Germany's largest concertration of Pz divisions since her failed 43 offensive.

Week by week the Soviets are pushing us back on all fronts. Incomplete reserves formations have rushed to the front to stem the tide. Retreating our lines to create a moblie striking force supported by the Luftwaffle is currently being debated.

Our troops continued to attack the enemy on all fronts. Tarnapol was taken and the defenders shattered in a long retreat in friendly lines. There were a serious setback in the centre as the combined attack of 3 tank armies were repulsed by a german panzer korps leaving more then 200 soviet panzer destroyed for very few german losses. We nearly got a bridgehead over the last river before Ploesti, but a few brave german infantrymen held against 2 tank armies. Our air force continues to keep the Luftwaffe in check, but we dont dare to launch air attacks as we fear retalaiation against the tired fighteres by rested fw's. The german lines are showing signs of our continous attacks, they are forced back all the time, hopefully soon we can achieve a big breaktrough somewhere and begin to really hurt the nazis.

The east front is now in a critical situation. Gaps are forming all along the front and our strong points are being out flanked. Drastic measures have been under taken in a attempt to stop a rout from happening.

Defeat of germany before 45 summer is very unlikely. German panzers are strong again. The Luftwaffe is kept in check for the first time, and german infantry begins to lose too much blood. But germany is still very far away, I wont get there in time. The germans are massing jagdpanthers to destroy our armor.

We continued our attacks on all fronts. In the north our attack was something like a front shortening as a small panzer group cut one of the supply lines last week. We destroyed the tiny panzer korps and moved our tank armies closer to the main line.

In the centre our tankers defeated the panzers this time. Nearly all attacks suceeded in throwing back the invaders.

In the south the vvs cleared the sky from the italian fightrs who fought like devils. We tried to get over the river again. Our designated bridgehead was guarded by a panzer korps with ss panzer divisions. We somehow felt the germans are expecting us there... We bombed the ss criminals with everything we had, then unleashed 2 tank and a shock army on them. The devils somehow held on, they had much more tanks then infantry when the battle ended...

Now our tired air force is endangered by the fresh Luftwaffe. Hitler must be a bit mad about reports of the VVS bombing his beloved ss panzers so hard.

Losses this week:

Axis/Soviet

1421/729
204/489
910/80
352/537

I dont know your german and soviet forces and the situation but my IMHO the key will be spring/summer of 1944. The Westerns Fronts garrison requeriments will raise a lot in a comparative with 1943. The USSAF strategic attacks is more harder to stop...The Luftwaffe will have choose to defend the industries or use them to support the Eastern Front.
Its very important for Germany defend the factories to maintain the production but many times also they are required to stop soviets...
I think, at this stage of the war, like Rommel, that Air Superiority will be the key, maybe you can surprise, but Germany at full production in 1944 can give you a lot of tanks and planes that can help you in the battle.
Knowing Tom, he knows that, so he will use his VVS in force .
The best use of airforces/production is very, very important.

Oh well, sorry, only my opinion [&o]

Good luck to both. Im really interested how yours play this stage of the game. Always there are a new thing to learn [:)]

Right now we both researching fighters, soon la7 and fw190d will arrive. After that we are preatty close in production as my tank production advantage is nearly gone by kingtigers mass jagdpanther tactic. German fighter production will be very strong with fw190d being preatty cheap (same cost as la7). Kingtiger informed me, that his panzer commander's demand a decesive summer offense. But I think Luftwaffe commanders will veto it if they cant rule the sky. I think my tanks are now obsolete against jagdpanthers, but la7 will do better against fw190d, then la5fn did against fw 190a. I think draw is most likely, Moscow will be held at all costs :)

I agree, stunningly, that KingTiger is going to somehow salvage a draw.  That huge set back he had I know would have finished me completely.  But he has battled back amazingly.
