Ghost Mountain Boys

Post by ILCK »

After trying and failing in numerous games to slog my troops over the Owen Stanley Range and failing I decided to read up on the whole PM-Buna campaign since I knew almost nothing about it.

I found
The Ghost Mountain Boys. Good book, nicely written with some good personal anecdotes and details and supplemented it with this website that has a more "military" view of things and a lot of really excellent maps.

I knew the campaign was hard but, particularly the fight for Buna, I had no idea how brutal and awful that particular fight was. I recommend both highly for folks interested in the subject.
