Thanks for the pics. Really nice work. You had several planes flying there that I have never seen in any airshow. Absolutely fantastic.

Great pictures. The P-38 is a favorite of mine, I wish I could see one fly some day. It was interesting to see a Hetzer there. They were actually produced in Prague until the 1960's. The Swiss army bought some in 1947 and used them until the 1970's. More can be found here: http://www.achtungpanzer.com/hetzer.htm

Some of the nicest photos that I have seen.

Is that a real Val in the photos, or is is a mock up? The wings did not look right.

Chino is only a few miles from my home - but I haven't gone to one of their airshows since the '80's (been out to the air museum and Flo's Dinner though).

Back in the 70's and real early 80's - the aricraft did more than 'fly-by's' for the camera...they stunted and staged dogfights and bombings. But now that Chino has been so developed, I'm afraid fly-by's are all they can get away with these days (one reason why I stopped going I guess).

Still and all, Chino is still the Mecca for warbird restoration, I believe they do more of that there than anywhere else on the planet, and their air-museum is top notch.

The reenacting group in those photos - the CHG - are the guys I spent about a decade reenacting with (it's been about 10 years ago now). They have a lot of fun, and are a good group of guys. It's kind of funny, but as much as this forum community knows about 'all things PTO' - they are as dedicated to all things Med & ETO (West Front and East Front), and they have a lexicon of their own for 'things not accurate'. One thing the forum members here would particularly enjoy - about every other year a dedicated group of reenactor's from Japan would come out for a PTO Battle. They loved coming out to California where they could rent real Japanese MG's and all. Barely two in twenty could speak English - but everyone got along well, we all loved it when the Jap's came over to play. One thing about reenacting - it's a bigger history lesson when you're actually exhausted, hungry, and sweating - than reading any book.

You guys are so lucky to be able to go and see these planes and military hardware ...

The only flybys I get are during the monthly air raid test, when a pair of old F-4's thunder overhead.[:D]
(I live in Sth Korea at present).
First time, I'd only been in the country for a week, during the N-crisis a few years back ... thought crap!!

But being a Brisbane boy, even the Australian scene is lacking away from Sydney and Melbourne.

Great pics though, nice to see the IJN planes as well as the magnificent Mustang.
