The map on turn 1

The action begins with operation Diadem in Italy.

The Axis front line is hold by 8 Divisions entrenched in the mountains along the Gustav Line.

They will be hard to dislodge.

The Anzio pocket contains the equivalent of 2 Army Corps.

Axis turn 2

Germans reinforcements (mostly supports units) did'nt stop the allied offensive. Most of reinforcement have been destroyed on allies turn 1.

The LXIII begins his deployement along the adriatic coast. Due to the complete disruption of the XIV Pz Corps, released units of the 14th Army will be sent to plug the holes on the Thyrrenian coast.

Turn 3

Axis kampfgruppen sent to plug the holes on the thyrrenian have exploded as if it was popcorn.

The actions on this turn permit a small counter attack against units of the french expeditionnary Corps. The 4th DIMM (Division d'Infanterie de Montagne Marocaine) has been destroyed with a Regiment of the 3rd DIA (Division d'Infanterie Algérienne).

I decided to send the entire Reich JG A in Italy. With its 200 fighters (Me 109 and Fw 190), it will help to defend in inflicting more damages to allied Air force.

End of turn 4

More reinforcement (4 Reserve infantry Division from the OKW reserves) are on the Way.

A local counterattck vs Anzio pocket permit to save the 715 ID. All that remain is entrenching.

During those 5 turns, Axis lost about 1850 RS, the infantry of 11 divisions.

80 per cent of german units are not responding to the orders (retreated, routed and reorganizing units).

Is it realistic?

Allied forces don't suffer such problems.

Exemple 1: On turn 3, the 3rd DIA has been split in three and lost 1 regiment (about 40-50% of the division has been lost). On turn 4, the 2 remaining regiments are ready for ordrers and entrenching. [&:]

Exemple 2: The 4th DIMM has been completely destroyed (encircled) on turn 3. It will be back on turn 7 or 8 (1 turn represent half a week). [X(]

With the advantage of terrain, i can't hold the front line because of the weakness of my units. What will it be on turn 9/10 during the landing in Normandy?

Turn 6

The nightmare goes on.

Hermann Goering Panzer Division has been routed by a single frontal attack. The Tactical Reserves too.

Those three divisions were fresh units.

Is this the beginning of the end?

Germans are really underpowered
We'll take that into consideration. The whole idea of this modification was to make the Germans stronger, as they were terribly weak in the original version

Is it realistic?
A) There are many units in France that should be in reorg status.
B) Have you patched up to the lastest with T3? IN early versions there was a bug that caused more than usual reorganization.

My version of TOAW III is 3.2.29.27. I don't know what is the version used by jedi367.

When I say 80 per cent of the units, I mean 80 per cent of the units on the front line in Italy.

I'm only defending, I can't do anything else. Retreating is impossible.

Situation of the support units of the South West Army Group :

Image

On turn, the Schwer PanzerJäger Batallion 653 has only lost 1 Elefant (19 remaining). It's routed with only 5 per cent of losses.

Idem for the Hermann Goering Panzer Division which only lost 13 Panzer IVH (163 remaining).

That could be normal, but I would ensure that jediX is playing with the same version you are (which is the most current).

I will ask him.

End of turn 6.

All unsupplied units that can move have been withdrawn to recover their potential.

With the arrival of the reserve divisions, the situation on the adriatic coast has been secured.

Two reserve divisions of the OKW have been sent by train (two is the maximum, due to the railway capacities) to reinforce the thyrrenian coast front line.

The center line began to evacuate the south of the mountains, because this position is bad supplied and overexposed. Unfortunately, the 44th Grenadier division don't have enough movement points to cross the mountains. The only way to escape is to attack east. The chances of success are too weak and the losses will be too important. I prefer sacrifice it.

All remaining units on the front line are entrenching a little more.
