Mine eyes have NOT seen the glory

Post by ganderson1 »

Downloaded the game yesterday, installation went normally. But I haven't so far been able to get to the game. Game starts up, I hear the Gettysburg Address and see the pic of Lincoln, etc., but when the scenario selection screen appears the game locks up and requires a reboot. DxDiag attached. Any help appreciated!

P.S. I have done the usual maintenance stuff -- spyware/virus sweep, registry repair, defrag, etc -- but nothing helped.

Looks like we have at least two or three people having trouble at 1440x900. I'll have to see if Matrix has any ideas about this particular resolution. If anyone has experience running the game successfully at this resolution, please chime in. For those of you with 1440x900, can you set the screen resoultion to something else that's at least 1024x768?

We tested at 1440x900 with no issues. I just checked again, works fine on my system here.

I noticed this in your DxDiag:

"Morgan Stream Switcher,0x00800003,1,1,,"

This particular applet has caused us a lot of trouble in the past on other games. It seems to interfere with some DirectX sound systems. Try uninstalling it and I'll bet that solves the problem.

Many thanks! That did the trick. I'd never heard of the "Morgan Stream Switcher" before, so a quick Google search revealed this method of uninstalling it: Download and install the current version ( http://www.morgan-multimedia.com/download/mmswitch.exe ) and then uninstall that. Worked like a charm -- and that's in 1440x900. Thanks again for your quick attention and precise advice.

Running at 1440x900 with no problems at all. Game looks great. Is there any way to speed up the map scrolling?
