v1.03 Update Plan

Post by Erik Rutins »

Hi everyone,

Based on a few of the reports here, the JTCS team have decided to do one more pass on v1.03 and correct a few of these last minute issues before the official release. As a result, we won't be doing the official release tonight, but it's currently planned for early next week. In the meantime, please play the v1.03 Members Club release, but be aware that when the official release happens that you will want to download and install it even if you already have v1.03 from the pre-release.

Regards,

- Erik

Thanks for the update. I also noticed that some of the WF scenarios that were included in the previous version are now AWOL (the early Spanish Civil War scenarios). Was this intentional?

Hmm, no, they should still be there?

Do you know which ones? I will look into it.

The 3 Spanish Civil War scenarios are still there but for some reason they are not sorting by date correctly. If you sort by date, you can find all 3 scenarios at the end of the list rather than the beginning. All related files appear to be in the WF folder and they load correctly in the scenario editor and the game.

Heck, by then I might finish reading through the manual again! Did try the new pontoon ferries yesterday. Very cool. That's not an easy bootcamp scenario to win, either!

No, it is quite challenging, or supposed to be anyway! Offers replayability!

I am a bastard that way. *laughs*

One more thing for that "quick pass"... While using the JTCS Unit viewer I discovered that the American M26A1 Heavy Tank is depicted by a green raft. Now I know the M26 was a big old boat but.... [:D]

Erik,

I downloaded 1.03 the members version on Day 1 ..

When you finish tuning up-date 1.03 and I have to download it again, do I need to delete, or remove Matrix Camp Series before re-downloading?

Or will the official version simply overwrite the pre-release members version?

Great job to you all .. Glitches aside, the up-date certainly adds a new freshness to the game.

The new official version will overwrite the old, no need to uninstall.

just a quick note to add a vote of confidence in the path taken here - and probably to suggest that 1.04 should be released in a similar fashion (perhaps all Matrix games patches from now on!)

cheers

I could not agree more.  Consider the "member area downloaders" to be a final "pre-release beta test" group.  Take your time on the final release.  We have plenty to chew on here, and I think I will have a couple of recommendations to make myself.  Do you guys have a preferred thread for 1.03 final release suggestions?

I too think that's a great suggestion.  I wouldn't object to delaying the official patch to give everyone more time to discover and smooth out the bugs.  From what I've read, all the bugs are relatively minor and easily correctable.  Given the scope of the patch, I've been really encouraged.

With the size of the database this game has, the more eyes the better.

I also agree. There are a number of graphical errors (no image, wrong image) for units and a few errors in the weapons file. These are minor, easy to fix and fairly easy to spot now that Arkady has updated his Unit Viewer, but there are so many units to browse through.

I'm wondering if the CS team would be willing to delegate the work of detecting errors so they can concentrate on the fixes, that is if they haven't already fixed them. They could assign a nation or 2 (depending on # of units) to 1 or 2 willing individuals to check for missing graphics or obvious errors in the weapon file. Then gives us a thread to report any errors we might find so they can fix them. I think this could be an efficient way of finding the bugs and lighten some of the load that the CS team bears. Anyway, just an idea.

Great idea, cw58. If you want to tackle East Front, that would be great!

Maybe a couple other volunteers can tackle the Rising Sun and West Front?
