Sudden end

Post by massimorocca »

I was playing the attack to 169 from german side. The game ended at turn 14 with a legendary victory for me. I'm amused, but the situation on the ground wasn't exactly a legendary victory. The onslaught of the Russian was in full charge, they took teh central flag and, if they had lost all the tanks but one, the infantry ratio was heavily on the russian side. I feel that I'll win at the end, but the fight would be hard. More, in the endindg turn was scheduled the arrive of two german infantry gun as reinforcements. So I can say that this is a sudden end.
There is a chance to have an improvement, if only an option, for playing the game to the designed end turn?
I remember that original SP had the same problem. It was solved adding one hidden victory flag for each side to prevent the morale collapse following the seizing of all the objectives that with the loss of the Hq unit caused the sudden end

Could you post a save file? I'd like to take a look at the ending conditions if possible.

I've been working on a scenario that has what I consider a "sudden death" ending. The victory level indicators are both at about middle range. Then at the end of the turn the scenario is awarded to one side or the other. The first time it happened it was an Axis Minor Defeat. The second time it happened it was an Axis Minor Victory. At least it doesn't play favorites.

It's interesting to have the computer call the game with the victory indicators almost dead even and then to push one to the top at the end of the turn. Certainly gives you a new perspective on how you should play later turns in a game.

Good Hunting.
