question about mobilization rules.

Post by alaric318 »

greetings, i have being reading the manual, about militia mobilization rules, i think i did not understand how the rule works, for the first time one region is under attack, so here goes my question,

will a (population-4) mobilize for the first time under attack militiax8?

militia are poor combat units, and it is historical and good for balance, but i did want to know about it because i am working on a modded version, and the mobilization rules can make me change some of the changes i have planned about population in given regions,

thanks in advance for any and all advice about if i understand the mobilization rules right or not, is for sure that the federal player will be on the attack, so, most of the time, the mobilization trigger will take place on confederate "strongholds",

with best regards,

murat30.

post-data... i want to say that is a great game and have very good flexibility for modding, aside this rule is a great game and i do not want to mean this rule is bad, just, the game is great, but this rule is only just very tough for the player on the attack, but it is right.

A population 4 area with 1 resource will mobilize 9 units, because it is 2 times the population (4x2) plus 1 times the resources (1x1). So Wilmington, with 2 population and 2 resources will mobilize 6 militia. This is a one time mobilization per region per game.

greetings, thanks you very much for the advice and examples, and for the reply, it is clear, almost, now,

but, i read some about the target region that mobilizes, then is not able to mobilize more militia, so, arises a new question, this make reference to only mobilization rules or the standard recruitment, once a region have mobilized, the recruitment not take place, will, or not, the region increase population pool once mobilized?,

aside a note that 9 militias are much population cost, maybe it is enough, but depends that wich "force" attack the region, given a powerfull attack for sure that not all militias will survive the upcoming combat,

thanks in advance for all advice,

with best regards,

alarick.

Militia creation due to an attack has no impact on future recruiting in the area. Basically our militia mobilization due to attack represent the federalization of local militia that would happen if an area was attacked. We also assume that once an area is attacked, there's more willingness to fight off the attacker and thus even though not all of the militia would stay federalized, we let the player keep the units generated and also continue to get population from the area.

greetings, thanks again for the good and fast advice and reply, i find it ok, otherwhise maybe will encourage to launch suicidal attacks just to prevent further recruitment on given targets, indeed, the point of view you give is right,

thanks again and best regards,

great game! [:)]
