RE: Zizka Rides Again!!! Nemo (J) vs 1EyedJacks(+Advisors)
Andy,
Thanks for the offer and I understand completely that you are busy. Barring anyone wishing to play a game against me based on essentially my current Turn 1 I will be leaving but will be back when AE is released and perhaps we might try again then? No pressure though. The BIG difference between you and 1EyedJacks is that you just found that my style ( at that time ) wasn't for you whereas this is him dumping a game after spurning about 5 or 6 different compromises which gave him 95% or more of what he wants. That's VERY different.
As to the rule... Well what you said is the reason I argued that committing a full squadron to a drop was sufficient since a squadron would bring the guts of a company in in a day. Now, I'm willing to accept that someone else mightn't think a company is the minimum acceptable dropped force so I put forward the compromise of stating that we would have to drop no less than a Bn per objective ( which I think is utterly reasonable ). But it would appear that was unacceptable.
As to redoing the mod. I think that if I were redoing it I would simply break each parachute unit into its constituent Bns which would solve this issue quite elegantly BUT, frankly, unless someone is interested in playing a game ( with the rule that there are no negotiations of rules ONCE THE GAME STARTS) then, quite simply, I am walking away from WiTP and EA entirely.

I read the rules the way Mike did too.
It would be a crying shame if this put you off Fionn. Your style of play does not suit everybody and it is difficult for more conventional players (even the gifted ones like Andy) to truly grasp what they are getting into when they take you on. If Alfred has the time to play you, I'd really like to see that one. Failing that perhaps Trollelite is tempted to come back...[;)]
I am enjoying playing a slightly earlier version of your mod with Mike, but we are similar players (except I am better, of course - Bearing in mind the number of new toys you have given him I'll probably regret that tongue-in-cheek remark...).
House Rules are a way of allowing players with a different style to you to give you a game, so please do not discount them in future. Most disagreements are pot-ay-to po-tah-to and the really crunchy ones HAVE to be discussed with no blame or animosity. They can come up at any stage of the game, so maintaining a civil dialogue is essential. We all know how passionate you can get over these things and it is very understandable because of the amount of blood and sweat you have poured in to creating this mod.

Hi Nemo,
Sad to see this ending. It really is.
I know we had one bad start too and unfortunately I'am pretty much out of freetime. Just have PBEM ongoing with FDR which I kind of owed to him.
Anyway, don't walk away... you have helped me out in many aspects of the game. Thanks for that... and maybe you just need to find another opponent. I mean you already have the 1st turn ready go. [:)]

GBL,
Well, there's a need to discuss things and to recognise that people can have different opinions BUT if your opponent gives you 95% of what you ask for and then you walk away, well, that leaves a bad taste.
I feel like I bent over backwards to keep him happy... "You want the Soviet Union active AFTER I've made most of my turn 1 air orders so I am limited in what I can allocate to the Soviet theatre ( I had to order Nells and Bettys from Formosa to hit Vladivostok because he only brought up this change AFTER I'd ordered them there )... AND you want me not to land at Amboina and Kendari - FINE I won't for 2 days... AND you don't want company-sized parachute drop .... FINE let's go with Bn-sized ones" But NO, none of that is enough. I sent him a turn yesterday in which each para Bn attacked one target and in which I did NOT land at Kendari. I didn't even get the courtesy of a reply to that email despite the fact that I bent over backward to accomodate him several times.
Well, as I said, I have a turn 1 here and I'm willing to play anyone who will agree to not hold the game to ransom mid-game in order to "re-negotiate" things. Compromise means getting some of what you want. You can't just expect an opponent to always give in 100% and then when he doesn't you just pull the plug on the game. It's pathetic!!!
Aztez,
Aye, I remember
. I have no problem with the fact that my preferred style of play doesn't suit everyone although, to be fair, by NOW anyone who asks to play me cannot use the excuse that they don't know what they are getting into ( last year was different obviously but 1EyedJacks knew exactly what he was getting into ).
Anyways, if anyone wants a game on the condition that once the game starts we don't change any rules unless BOTH players agree then I'm game. They can specify changes to other house rules to make them more comfortable with the game if they want BUT once it kicks off they can't be demanding changes on pain of quitting.

RE: Zizka Rides Again!!! Nemo (J) vs 1EyedJacks(+Advisors)
After all that build-up -- what a disappointment that 1EyedJacks chose to bail out. However, now I can mention that the second piece of advice I gave him was to keep fighters at his rear bases, since you were very likely to use the Me-264's aggressively. (Posted roughly four hours before you put up a post about building and using your Me-264 fleet.) I did not specifically suggest using the P-39 Airacobra -- but a later poster did.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

RE: Zizka Rides Again!!! Nemo (J) vs 1EyedJacks(+Advisors)
*chuckle* Good plan Harlock. That's what I ended up trying to do in my own game when I was the Allies. It is nice to find a good use for all those P-39Ds.
In other news. I decided to post a request for an opponent and it looks like 2nd ACR may be a taker. I want to be SURE that he knows what he is getting into but since he suggested a "gutter fight" I think he must have a fair idea indeed
Parachute units are limited to 1 drop per Bn per day and Kendari, Amboina and Southern Borneo are off limit on Day 1 but apart from that we're good to go. I'm going to change my orders to avoid those bases and marshall my forces along a line from Jolo to Mendano to Sorong and we'll take it from there.

RE: Zizka Rides Again!!! Nemo (J) vs 1EyedJacks(+Advisors)
I can vouch for 2ndACR's ability and personality, he'll not bail unless real life intrudes (and none of us can complain if that happens). He's a good player and hopefully will do an AAR if he has time.
Good luck and sorry to see it go south this way, but better now than mid february after weeks of play time.

I might be interested in this mod.
I have to look at it to get sure - are you still searching an enemy?

RE: Zizka Rides Again!!! Nemo (J) vs 1EyedJacks(+Advisors)
Thanks for the vouch Rob. My main concern at this stage is to find someone who is happy playing the same type of game as me and won't bail SO your vouching for him means a lot. Real life ALWAYS comes first - I've bailed on a game due to real life and would never complain about that - but it'd be cool to have someone step in if that happens.
Historiker - well, an opponent, perhaps but not looking for any more enemies [:D]. Would you mind if I kept you in mind as an alternate in case 2ndACR has to bail due to real life?

RE: Zizka Rides Again!!! Nemo (J) vs 1EyedJacks(+Advisors)
No bailing this time......I do not bail about game issues, HR disagreements etc. I just retaliate in kind. Gutter fights mean there are no real HR once turn 1 is over. Out of the service now, so no more deployments. Family life is slowly getting back on track after that huge blow up........working 80 hours per week takes it's toll though.
Thanks for the vote Rob........I like aggressive play......makes the game more fun.

Aye, I wasn't impugning your character ( I've seen you around etc for a good while ) but, obviously, I am cautious at this stage. It looks to me though as though you want a gutter fight and that's what I want too...

I'm glad this game is going on with another opponent.
I can look in here day to day and see if there is something I can gleam for my two games with this mod. John is already teaching me lessons around Rabaul since I sent KB back to Japan vs Marshalls while I'm trying to to cause Damian pain as the Allies.

Not taken that way. I had a bad spell there keeping games going. Well, you just bring your worst. I might have a few surprises for you.
