The day turn began with 58 Ki-48s attacking Alor Star - destroying 1 Blenheim on the ground causing 195 casualties, 2 guns lost, 4 vehicles lost and 20 other hits.
53 Ki-21s raided Georgetown - unescorted as well - and met 8 Buffalos. 1 was damaged. 9 casualties and 53 other hits.
18 Zeros out of Soc Trang Indochina swept Singapore - and met 21 Buffalos. 1 Zero and 5 Buffalos were shot down.
8 unescorted Blenheims met 8 Ki-41s over Kuching - and 2 of the former were shot down. 1 airbase hit.
78 Betty's and Nells escorted by 49 Zeros met 20 P-40Es over Manila. 1 Zero, 2 Nells and 3 Bettys were lost (some to FLAK),
while 11 P-40s were shot down and 6 airbase hits scored.
7 JAAF attacks on Chinese ground units caused moderate casualties.
3 B-17s escorted by 10 P-40s attacked the CVE force East of Leyte Island. Met by 3 Petes, 1 Rufe and 24 Me-109 Traeger fighters,
1 B-17 was damaged and 8 P-40s shot down - for no hits.
3 Hudsons missed AK Kembo Maru at Sorong New Guinea.
10 Ju-88s (from the operational unit with this aircraft new to Japan) and 9 Ki-51s put 16 small 50 kg bombs into AK Makassar - in the Makassar Strait!

6 Kates from KB put a torpedo into BB Tennessee off Molokai. 1 was lost.
10 Kates from the CVE force East of Leyte put 2 250 kg bombs into PG Genessee at Cagayan, Mindinao, starting a fire.
2 Kates from the same force put another bomb into PG Luzon near Butuan.
In the afternoon 15 Kates from this force put 5 bombs into AP Ruth Alexander.
9 Bettys out of Kuching - too small for torpedo operations - put 2 250 kg bombs into BC Repulse at sea trying to get away from the scene of the abortive raid by Force Z the day before.
4 Vals went into PH unescorted - and paid the price: all were lost to 52 fighters of 3 types. 6 of their buddies went back - this time with 6 Zeros covering them - and met the same 52 fighters: 1 Zero and 4 Vals were lost, 5 Alied fighters were shot down, and USS Tennessee was missed by all the bombs directed at her. Finally getting the idea, 30 Vals, 32 Kates, and 38 Zeros went back - meeting only 43 fighters this time - no doubt many of which were tired. 1 Zero, 4 Vals and 8 Kates were lost (many to AAA), 25 fighters were shot down, 3 BB were hit (one badly), and 2 other ships were missed. USS Arizona took 7 bomb and 3 torpedo hits.
In South China, 35 Ki-51s and 6 Ki-48s, escorted by 22 Ki-27s, out of Canton, attacked the Wenchow Transport Group, covered by 6 Hawks. In spite of that, they put 32 small bombs into the targets - causing heavy damage (I am sure).
6 Vals put a bomb into AK Vega off Molokai - but missed her escorting DD. 12 Vals and 25 Kates (not counting fighter cover which was not needed) came back - and badly damaged USS Pensylvania and USS California with 7 bomb and 4 torpedo hits, setting both on fire (unless they already were on fire).
6 Vals and only 2 Zeros went back to PH - will AI ever learn? - and 4 of the Vals were shot down by 10 P-40s - while USS Hull was undamaged by the 2 survivors.
8 Kates, 9 Ki-51s and 9 Ju-88s (plus escort) attacked the airfield at Alor Star - destroying 2 Blenheims on the field. 36 casualties, 3 vehicles lost, 11 other hits.
3 B-17s escorted by 4 P-40s put 1 bomb into AP Hasuna Maru at Legaspi - in spite of 6 Claudes and 4 Nates flying CAP. No planes lost or damaged.
3 B-17s and 9 P-40s missed AP Dori Maru at sea.
10 (escorted) Kates from the CVE force put 3 bombs into PG Ashville and PG Tulsa near Dipilog. Then 15 Kates (unescorted) from the same force - called 3 force (San Butai) - put 5 bombs into AK Governor Wood at San Jose Buenevista - causing 62 casualties and 4 vehicles lost - he is moving Philippine Army units.
7 Bettys missed 2 DD at Balikpapan.
9 Bettys put 5 bombs into CA Exeter - withdrawing from the Kuching actions the day before - her luck streak ran out.
9 Bettys missed 2 AK at Sinkawang.

RE: RHS Test 10C: EBO vs Chicken of the Sea
DM Thracian fought a 2 vessel MSW unit - she took 2 shell hits but dished out one in return - and both units survived - at the end of the day turn.
Two Allied bombardment attacks at Wuchang and Hong Kong caused modest casualties. One at Brunei caused none at all.
A deliberate attack at Kendari failed to take the place - but 3:1 casualties inflicted implies it will fall soon.
A deliberate attack on a guerilla regiment on the rail line from Indochina to Nanning forced the unit to retreat -
35 casualtie and 1 gun lost by the Allies - 10 Japanese casualties.

RE: RHS Test 10C: EBO vs Chicken of the Sea
10 December 1941 (Hawaii Time)
Landings continued at Brunei. Mines were encountered. But in spite of 4 shots fired and mines, no damage done. 32 casualties in the landings.
Ro-36 was attacked by unspecified AS units - but not harmed.
Ro-34 at Olongapo missed AK Governor Wright.
I-173 at PH missed USS California - reported still on fire from yesterday's battles. She then put two torpedoes into AK Royal T Frank - sinking her. She tried for California again - but missed again. A DD with California also failed to damage her. Later two ASW attackes failed to damage her, but appear to have prevented an attack on an AK.
6 pre production Ki-49 Helen's out of Johnston made their first combat raid of the war on Oahu. In spite of night and high altitude -
3 were shot down - not a loss rate we can sustain yet.
The cruiser destroyer flotilla based at Jolo (4 old CA, 8 DD) hit USS Langley 19 times - and sank her - at Zamboanga.
2 sections of 3 PT boats attacked damaged Fuso and Yamashiro - returning to Lahaina after running away due to damage the night before. Yamashiro took 7 HMG hits. A PT unit took 3 hits from 3 inch 60 guns on DE Hiyodori.
Ro-41, only one hex from Kuching, put the coup de grace into HMS Exeter - with two torpedoes - sinking her at last.
Dutch sub KXV put a torpedo into Kaijo Maru #2 at Kuching.
Ro-33 - at Manila Bay - put a shell and 2 torpedoes into AK Maayo - sinking her.
I-155 - at Darwin - attacked an ASW group (something code likes to do) - putting 2 torpedoes into a pair of minesweepers. The other 3 ships failed to hurt her - but they tried. They tried again later - and missed again.
The day turn began with 9 unescorted Ki-21s out of Bangkok raiding Rangoon. Met by 10 Buffalos, 1 bomber was shot down - and the rest achieved a dismal 1 runway hit total score.
72 escorted JAAF bombers of 2 types hit Alor Star, causing 253 casualties, 17 vehicles lost, and 87 other air base hits. No aircraft destroyed on the ground as hoped but also no losses or damage to our planes.
18 Zeros from Indochina and Cambodia swept Singapore - meeting 18 Buffalos - shooting down 2 of them - according to the report. Animation said 8 were shot down. Unusual conflict in display and data.
3 B-10s escorted by 3 Buffalos met 5 Oscars at Kuching, Sarawak - no planes lost or damaged - 1 runway hit scored.
74 Bettys and Nells escorted by 59 Zeros raided Manila. 15 P-40Es were flying CAP. 7 were shot down and 1 PBY destroyed on the ground. 2 bombers were lost. 25 casualties and 14 other hits.
12 Japanese air raids were made on ground units in China, 3 of them on Hong Kong. 11 caused moderate damage and 1 was ineffective.
The only ROC raid did no damage.
7 Kates out of Rabaul attacked K Force on New Ireland - but did no damage.
21 Sallys out of Saigon caused 39 casualties and 2 vehicles lost at Brunei.
4 unescorted Kates went into PH - met 16 fighters - and 2 were shot down. In spite of this, they put a torpedo in USS California.
Then 4 Vals escorted by a single Zero met the same 16 fighters - 1 Val was lost - and 3 bombs were put into AK Vega. These may have been part of a larger strike that broke up: next 19 Kates and 6 Vals escorted by 41 Zeros also came in on PH. The same 16 fighters were on CAP, but 12 were shot down. 1 Zero and 3 Kates lost, 1 torpedo hit on CL Raleigh, 3 other ships missed. Next 15 Vals and 14 Zeros came in - meeting only 4 fighters of 2 types this time - 1 P-36 was lost, 1 Val was lost, and 9 bombs were put into USS California. Finally 4 more Vals went in without escort - met 3 fighters but evaded them all - and put a bomb into DM Montgomery, setting her on fire.
14 Bettys out of Cam Rahn Bay failed to hit PG Cicala in the middle of the South China Sea. 12 more put 6 bombs into PG Tutuila, one hex away. These were JAAF "Ki-50" versions of the plane - normally armed with 100 kg bombs - but this mission flew with 250 kg bombs (a code thing).
10 Escorted Kates went into Olongapo to put 8 250 kg bombs into AS Otis - dooming her. These may have come from Legaspi or the CVE force in the area. Next they put 4 more bombs into already badly hurt AK Ruth Alexander - forcing her sinking. 2 missed AP Adrianne Moller at San Jose [Mindoro] Late in the day they attacked 3 more ships in a TF - putting a bomb into DD Peary, 2 into TK Van Koh, and missing another DD. Both targets put on fire, the DD heavily damaged. Later on Ro-35 torpedoed Van Koh, hit her twice, and no doubt caused her to sink.
7 Kates, 9 Ki-51s and 10 Ki-43s got lost - went to Moulmein instead of Rangoon - ran into I don't know what AA wise - and 1 Ki-51 was lost and another damaged for 1 casualty and 1 gun lost inflicted.
27 JAAF bombers of 3 types hit Alor Star airfields scoring 20 hits (no damage or losses).
3 Bettys attacked airfields at PM but failed to score.
13 Bettys out of Kuching missed 3 ships near Sinkap. 3 more put a 250 kg bomb into AO Anglo Indian at Palembang.
2 Kates put a 250 kg bomb into AO Trinity at Tarakan. The Kates - out of Jolo - cannot carry torpedoes due to the small base size.
11 Bettys out of Johnston Island went right into PH to attack 3 ships - missed 2 AKs and put a torpedo into 1 AP - for a loss of 1 aircraft. That one hit caused fires and major damage to St Mihiel.
I-6 at Melbourne put a torpedo into AK Lena Lukenbach but was not harmed by her escorts. She failed to hit AP Aquitania and another AK.
DD Pope failed to hit Ro-35 - which then proceeded to torpedo TK Van Koh, as reported above.
Ro-29 missed 2 AO at Banka Island.
A landing occurred at Tarawa - which fell immediately.
Ground attacks on 2 Chinese guerilla regiments caused casualties to both and one to retreat.
Ground attack at HK failed to take the place: 529 : 223 casualties.
Brunei fell to the second brigade sized ground attack.
Kendari did not fall to the second ground attack - 8 casualties on both sides.

RE: RHS Test 10C: EBO vs Chicken of the Sea
11 Dec 1941 (Hawaii Time) 12 Dec (Tokyo and Western Pacific Time)
The night turn began with DD Shirakumo hitting a mine at Jolo. Damage was heavy.
The mine was Japanese. Prospects for survival = poor - too far to a Level 3 port - unless we capture one.
8 ASW units in a dedicated AS TF attacked I-5 near Victoria, BC, Several got to drop weapons, but no damage.
3 B-18s and 14 SPD-3s made a very rare night attack on BB Hiei, CV Hiryu and - get this - SS I-5 at MOLOKAI.
I have never seen a night strike by land based bombers work before. And did it work? How can I-5 be at two locations?
I think this was a string from the previous ASW attack - and it may indicate my suspicion that subs are attacked by
non-ASW weapons on aircraft is the code. Anyway - the attacks all failed to hit.

RE: RHS Test 10C: EBO vs Chicken of the Sea
I-5 got attacked again near Victoria by the same AS TF. Still 0 system damage points.
A different ASW TF of 6 units attacked I-4 nearby in Seattle - but did not score.
Ro-33 at Olongapo missed two AKs in two different attacks in a row. She is the lead ship in a class of
pre war subs intended for mass production and actually mass produced for EBO. However, it is a design
before the sub type Long Lance - and uses older torpedoes more likely to miss because they lack the
range and speed. In 1942 a Long Lance version of the sub enters production as IRL - but it cannot be
retrofitted into this class - not enough room.
Here is something: USS Dolphin attacled a DD in the KB TF - not a carrier nor a BB. She never saw the big ships,
at night, but saw the little DD. ALL 8 DD in the TF tried to get her - but failed.
Troops landed at Molokai. AP Izumo Maru was hit by coast defense mines and set afire. DE Fuyo was missed by them.
Guns fired 65 shots scoring 9 hits on 4 ships - 3 DD and 1 AP - one of each being set on fire. 25 troop casualties.
The same guns then fired 151 more times, scoring 18 hits on 5 ships and missing one more. 4 of the ships were set
on fire. Targets were 3 DE and 3 AP. 106 casualties, 3 guns lost, 2 vehicles lost. This is a landing by a demibrigade-
half the elite First Guards Mixed Brigade that already took Lahaina. This unit has an organic "tank unit" which is a
de facto tank battalion - and was experimental IRL - but standardized in EOS.
USN sub Pompano attacked BB Hyuga in the Main Body near Lahaina. 3 DD counterattacked. Everybody missed.
Sub chasers at Aparri detected a minefield. Minesweepers detected a minefield at Zamboanga.
Unidentified ASW units attacked I-16 at sea - in the Celebes Sea. She later attacked but missed TK Gertrude Kellog.
I-158 hit TK Longwood with 2 torpedoes in the Celebes Sea. An escort failed to hit her but did attack her. This is the
harvesting of ships fleeing the Philippines for which we sent an entire squadron of subs, and a heavy surface TF,
and a CVE TF - and for which we established an air base on Jolo.
It was a long night turn focused on submarine, ASW and mine attacks - but also including a night air strike - one that might
have mattered if it had hit a carrier of the important KB.

RE: RHS Test 10C: EBO vs Chicken of the Sea
The day turn began with 29 Sallys and 11 Zeros meeting 20 P-40s of the AVG 1 and 2 squadrons over Rangoon.
The P-40s got into the bombers almost at once - shot 8 down (in total with help from AA fire). 25 hits.
5 B-10s and 3 Dutch Buffalos attacked Kuching - meeting 6 Zeros CAP. 1 B-10 shot down. No penetration.
73 Bettys and Nells with 70 Zeros out of Takao attacked Manila. No CAP. 1 P-40 destroyed on the ground.
4 casualties, 1 gun lost, 33 other hits. Bombers at 14 000 feet to avoid medium AA guns.
10 B-17s hit Jolo. 5 Zeros and 3 Petes on CAP. No air losses. 7 airfield hits. Bombers at 7000 and 9000 feet.
These came from Cagayan. Later, 3 B-17s and 5 fighters of 2 types from the same base tried to hit CA Furutaka
at the same base - but missed. Later still 7 B-17s and 14 fighters missed an AK also at Jolo.
5 JAAF attacks caused moderate casualties on ROC units in China. So did one on Hong Kong - but a second one failed
to do any damage. No planes lost at all.

I-16 was attacked - unsuccessfully - by DD Pope in the Celebes Sea.
Over 57 000 Japanese attacked about 13 000 Chinese on the main rail line West of Shanghai -
forcing a retreat. Three attacks on guerilla units in East China caused light casualties.
Allied ground bombardment at Molokai had no effect.
116 IJA Paras hit Ye - Burma - just as the airfield unit retreating from Tavoy arrived.
The 284 support troops ran immediately to Moulmein - with only 1 casualty - and Tavoy was captured.
