Version 1.06 Not Loading

So I loaded the new patch and it worked fine for 3 or 4 days. Today, I try to start the game though and it did not. First, I clicked on the desktop shortcut and then on "Play" at the first screen of options. For some reason then the main menu (where you can start new games, load them, etc.) would pop for a second and then it would revert back to the first screen after I clicked on the desktop shortcut. There is a java icon at the bottom of the screen that has the aborted screen. I tried several times, rebooted, etc., nothing seems to get it to work.

Any thoughts on what causes this would be appreciated.

Try System restore to a point in time when the game worked.

You could try right clicking on the desktop icon and saying "Run as Administrator". This seems to help some people.

We've tracked this down more and it is related to a windows update that was recently released. It disables support for the version of Java we are using.... but only effects some machines. We're working to try and resolve it and as soon as we have a fix we'll issue an update.
