Comments:
Aden - a frustration is the port size is 3(4) at 62%. Thus, with many AKs at 10,000 capacity. The rate of loading supplies is 200 x 3 = 600/day.

Palmyra - my recon of PBYs found only 7 Rufe on CAP. My B-17s will be assigned Naval Attack with AF as secondary. I hope to hit his TK/AO mainly.

The last of the Russian DDs has made it out of Russian waters. I got 10 DDs and 7 MSWs out. They can lay mines and will bolster my forces.

Unrestrcited Submarine Warfare

Post by ny59giants »

With him attacking Russia, I got extra subs to use. As of this turn, here is what I have.

British - 4
Dutch - 13 (4 sunk)
Russian - "L Class" 13 and Shchuka 31 (5 sunk)
French - 3 (1 sunk)
American - "S Class" 10 (2 sunk) and "Fleet" 35 (8 sunk)
Total - 109

However, I have 31 with sys damage over 10 and 2 with float damage over 50. One will disband at Pearl tomorrow. Skipjack is at 58/57 and just passing Balikpapan. She will try to reach Australia as Soerabaja is now too hot for repairs. The ones with higher endurance have escaped the SRA and will head for one of my channel bases with either a 300 or 800 ShipYard Repair capacity.

In 1/42, I get 1 Russian, 3 Gato Class, 3 Fleet, and 6 "S-Class" subs.

Planned Ops: The Russians arriving at Pearl will get disbanded if over 5 sys damaged. Otherwise, they are going to try to hit his Replenishment TF following KB or the "L Class" to mine bases. Some of the Americans will head for Suva to Noumea area. I will use Soerabaja only to reload.

Java Sea

Post by ny59giants »

He has mini-KB off of Pontianak protecting his transports.

I have the 2 British CVs off the SW corner of Christmas Island along with the Dutch Navy and CA Houston and CL Boise. Both will head for Broome to refuel and take up position south of Java. He has Nell/Betty at Kuching (AF 4), so i cannot get too claose to Java. Manado and Tarakan are still AF 3, so I can use the British CVs armored decks against any Nell/Betty attack.

Many of my Russian subs are moving towards Soerabaja.

Malang will be my final hold out in Java. Its a mtn hex with a AF 4 already. Java has almost 50k in supply.

Philippines

Post by ny59giants »

On Luzon - Baguio/Batinto Pass is 62% towards a level 4 fort with 331 AV and Lingayen is a level 1 fort (none building) with 675 AV. Down south, Naga is with 478 AV from 3 divisions. As soon as i get up to a level 4 fort in my mtn hex, they will go through Clark to Lingayen to start work there. there is almost 2000AV on Luzon

Subs will evec a BF and hopefully parts of two Philippine Divisions from the islands like Cebu in the next few weeks.

Damian is now moving north out of the Vladivostok area with a sizable force.

Please note all those airplane symbols on the Japanese bases in the Home Islands and further north to protect his economic assets. [:D]

Christmas Island, Part 2

Post by ny59giants »

It looks like Damian is going to use the SNLF that he used to capture Palmyra to capture Christmas Island and leave just the large BF at Palmyra since he has KB still patrolling the area. KB has gone off the screen and Damian writes that he is deciding to go either north or south.

To the North is Hawaii and the West Coast bases. But I have plenty of 4e and 2e bombers with enough range. I also have my 4 CVs. He may think there are transport to hit.

To the South he may feel there are transports to hit. Almost all are in the southern Panama shipping channels, which he is allowed into. Some may head further south the the southern map edge shipping channel which are off limits to everything Japanese.

Operation: Staunton Gambit

Post by ny59giants »

In keeping with the use of Chess openings, this name was generated by the computer.

Damian seems to have placed increased forces in both Nanchang and Sinyang. I have yet to see any forces from northern China move south. However, I have now ordered forces to move and make noise while this operation is launched.

Forces: I have 3 x Field Armies (AV-755) and 3 x Group Armies (AV-1729), 3 x Field Artillery, 1 x War Area HQ moving towards Changsha before being used to go around Nanchang and attack across the river into Kiukiang. Right now that base has only 2 LCUs. My forces are moving from as far away as Chungking. Some have 100% prep as they were at games beginning.

Mid-China is going to get even hotter in the days ahead. [:D]

I've finally gotten around to updating my AAR and it times out again. [:@][:@] Back to posting Combat Report and then making comments later. I also need to "copy" the post so if it times out again, I can save myself some time.

Damian had asked via PM if he could have ships in the Panama shipping channels. When I told him OK, I find this attack 3 hexes in on the channel due east of Hawaii. Thankfully, the combat report did not reveal the existence of 3 damaged BBs (NV - 64, OK - 62, TN - 58). I had sent them in a SE course from Pearl after their float damage got down to zero. However, when KB was spotted escorting his transports weeks ago. I had to decide what to do. I choose to head for this shipping channel as they will head to the South Atlantic Entry base (physically located due south of Nz in a shipping channel) since it has a size 830 Repair Shipyard. This is also the turn that KB is now off the radar screen.

I want to stay and fight over the skies of Java, but the cost is getting so high, I may need to leave the Dutch Air Force to fend for itself. I still have all of Timor, so the air bridge to and from Australia remains open.

Part of my plan was to sacrifice my Dutch forces to allow a few Pe-2s to get through. Three 10 plane squadrons of Pe-2s have moved down from India/Burma and will eventually end up in Australia.

Comments:
Catalina patrols out of Auckland spot a TF of CVs 4 hexes NW of Norfolk Island. A raid on SE Australia (Brisbane and/or Sydney) is coming. However, I have so little in aviation support for most of those bases (30 each) that I don't have anything to slow him down.
