RE: Harpoon 3 - worth buying?
I would appreciate if we not re-start the database wars here. Hold your fire please, folks.
To any new players, I would advise trying all the available databases and scenaros and seeing which you like best.

RE: Harpoon 3 - worth buying?
I believe that there may be a way that both ssclark and Whipple can both assure themselves satisfaction.ORIGINAL: ssclark
If they can be imported into the full game, I might still buy it. Still on the fence but leaning to the new Grigsby ACW game at this time. I want to buy/dl one next week.
Although Mr. Christopher Dean and I hold different opinions regarding the state of ANW, I have purchased product from him in the past and believe that his offer is sincere.ORIGINAL: Warship NWS
Quick note.. if anyone purchases H3 from us after talking to me directly and finds they cannot enjoy it to a reasonable degree I will work something out for you. To date, it is one of the very few games on our online store that is almost never traded in for store credit. HCE is also in that ranking. They are two flavors of modern naval wargaming that can be a lot of fun for gamers that enjoy the topic.

No thank you.
The H3 ANW community could do well to take a lesson from the WiTP community. Ya'll need to loose the "If you don't do what I want, I'll take my toys and go home" attitude.
As I mentioned earlier, I'll check back with H3 ANW around Christmas time. Untill then, I believe I'll head over to HCE and see if that game deserves my money.
A CPO calling it as I see it.

Don't waste the time. Enjoy the christmas instead. Else you just do like the rest of us: Keep coming back to see if anything new and miracoulous has happened even though you know this thing is dead and could just as well be burried. This thing is competing with only a few other products in being the most buggy piece of s...ware ever produced. It's a close race but I think its winning!

Dagooz,
Have you posted any bug reports for us to fix? Please note that we've made available a new public bug tracker and any reports posted there will be investigated and fixed if verified.
Regards,
- Erik

Actually Erik take the DB2k out of that list. We haven't done any updates as of late to make it compliant and have no intention of being manipulated into another rat race with Hum. Keep us out of your mess guys...
Thanks!

Common sense? [:D]
At least a very clear statement from a Rear-Admiral.
[:-] But note, that not Herman, nor I started this new stupid ‘plagiarism’ allegations, but Sunburn.
I regret the decision that the development of ANW-scn with Db2k has ended. But, that's your problem.
Cheers,
Tait.

Actually we look at it as an opportunity Tait but it comes with the territory of being able to switch to games that work rather then being chained to one that doesn't. That is an outstanding position to be in.
That being said, Harpoon isn't easy to let go but none of the decisions made or being made are ours. In the end the game either works or it doesn't regardless of what anybody says or tries to spin it as. That is the deciding factor for us, period.
I'd focus on doing positive things for this game guys. Its all yours and most likely the only opportunity you might have. [:)]

Wow. I'm sorry that I appear to have retouched off a bad rift in the H3 online community. I was not aware of all these developments in H2/H3 over the years. I played H2 for awhile some 12 or 15 or so years ago and have not followed the game until recently.
I read through some of the earlier threads and understand most of it. I do have one question about the various databases out there. Can they all be installed at the same time and the various attached scenarios played from within the game engine. In general, I'd consider that a good thing. Also, I'm assuming these databases are free downloads...or not?
Back to the H3 demo and tutorial scenarios, I played #7 and it too had a couple of glitches that the instructions seemed oblivious to. For starters, it has you set up an AAW patrol with a pair of F-14's. I set up the patrol. The air ops shows the F-14's ready to go with AtA loadouts using AMRAAMs. However, after one F-14 launched, I check it and it has no missles!! Not the end of the world as the F-14 still handled the enemy patrol planes with cannon. Once the first one landed, I reloaded it with a Phoenix loadout.
Later, the instructions note that the carrier and land base have various planes to have fun with, but there appear to be little to no ordnance for them to use. The F-15E's at the "good guy" base have nothing to load. The Seahawks on the FFG have no torpedoes to use. Etc.
Not showstopping, but oddly weak for a demo that should be impressing me.

Yes free downloads and they can be installed at the same time just not used. DB's and scenarios must match but the devs have added some functionality to the game launcher that really helps keep that stuff straight.

All third-party databases like the PlayersDB, HUD, WWIIDb, etc. are freely available for download from their respective host sites. All can be hosted at the same time on your ANW installation. One of the really nice new features of the ANW Configuration Launcher is the ability to switch between databases with just one click. Each database is placed within its own folder along with all associated scenarios.
The problems you see in Tutorial #7 are due to these issues:
[ol][*]Wrong loadout descriptions
[*]Ammo dumps emptied[/ol]Both problems have already been caught and corrected with all the PlayersDB versions.
