PCK on an ASUS Eee PC 901

Post by kam99 »

Has anybody tried running PCK on an ASUS Eee PC 901? It has 1GB of RAM.

Still setting up my new Netbook so I have not tried it myself yet. I am hoping to be able to run it from either a large capacity (16GB)USB drive or an SD card.

If anybody has tried it, I would be interested in hearing your experiences.

I don't want to discourage you, but I don't think that the game is gonna fly on an Eee:

It doesn't appears as though there's any dedicated memory for the display, and PCK needs at least 64mb.

kam99,

Doesn't work. I have tried it on the 901 big brother 1000h

Problem is not vid memory, the eeepc is a capable little machine but screen res. PCK demands at least 1024x768. Whilst you can set that in the drivers and it works ok with the compress mode on the desktop, anything which uses DX bypasses all this and chokes. The *engine* will handle this res ok as I ran scenedit on the eeepc with no probs, so clearly it is a designed UI limitation.

Maybe future editions could remove the limitation? Certainly all my utils need 1024x768 though. [:(]

Nice little machine, I find them great to use on the go or at work.

Regards

S.
