German Panzer Units in EF clarification.

Post by Przemos19 »

I've just begun new campaign - Barbarossa Central. I was surprised by the options of which I could choose my tank batalion. There were 3 corps which, i think, have predestined future (upgrades etc). However, there were also 3x XXIV Corps ;] Each of them consists of 2 batalions (a/b, c/d, e/f). I would like to ask, what does it mean? I think that's similar situration to infanterie divisions (german) and mechanized corps (russian) => different letter for different future upgrade and organization. But in manual in german part, only infanterie divisions are explained.

Panzer Battalion (a) starts with Panzer II/Panzer IIIF & G, upgrades through a couple III models, then IV finally upgrading to Panthers.

Panzer Battalion (b) starts with Panzer II/Panzer IIIF & IIIG, upgrades through a couple III models, then IV finally upgrading to Panthers. Similiar to above, just different versions at different dates.

Panzer Battalion (c) starts with Panzer II/Panzer 38(t)E, upgrades through a couple III models, then IV finally upgrading to Panthers.

Panzer Battalion (a) starts with Panzer II/Panzer 38(t)E, upgrades through a couple III models, then finally upgrading to IVH

There are three different versions of the XXIV Corps as they are all different. The 3rd variation using the 3 and 4 Panzer Divisions as opposed to a/b/c/d panzer battalions.

Hope this helps
