Can I play Carriers at War on my system?

Post by jrazz »

Hi Y'all,
I have a Sony Vaio Model: PCV-W20.
My specs are:Pent 4 CPU 1.80GHZ, 512 RAM.
So far, those are okay for the game but
the problem might be my on board
Video Card which is a SIS 650_651_740.
Does anyone have an opinion pro or con?
I would love to buy the game but obviously
wouldn't want to if it's not gonna
work on my system.
Thanks,
JimRazz

It'll probably work, CAW isn't real graphics intensive.  You're name sounds familiar, you live in Omaha for a while?

Well.. having the game myself, looking at the box ... here's what it says for Min. Sys Requirements;

Windows 95/98/ME/2k/XP/Vista * Pentium III 800 MHz or Athlon 800 MHz CPU * 256 MB free RAM *
GeForce2 or equivalent Graphics Card * Windows Compatible Soundcard * DirectX 9.0c * Display capable of
1024x768 resolution or higher

Basically.. ur all set ! =)

So, enjoy ! :)

The graphics requirement is very, very low by modern standards, you should be fine.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I thought as much but I'm aware that the Sony Vaio is notoriously game unfriendly
and so I wanted to get some opinions.

Thanks again.

I kinda feel bad now Jim.  I was actually wondering if I was going to have to hate you, I thought you were one of old Labor Relations officers for the company I work for.[:-]  Looking over the books you've written I may have to track down a few, my daughters are big fans of some of the topics.[:)]

Oh woe is me![&:]
I bought Carriers at War via digital download and now it seems I can't play it on my Sony Vaio after all, since I'm getting an error message right after I hit "Play" to the tune of, "unable to create device!" What gives? I'm betting it's my video card. [&:]

BTW, before you pull out the hankies let me add that I "can" play the game on my DELL Desktop but I really gave that to my daughter and so I would rather play it on the Sony.
