If You Must Fight in the Jungle, Lead a Combat Team of Merrill's Marauders

Post by Redleg »

Here's something for the busy, on-the-go SPWAW warrior.

Quick-play in about an hour.

Very different scenario without any victory hexes. Win by destroying a lot of enemy units.

I can win this so you can also. Have fun racking up a very large
body count.

Had a blast

Post by Seagull »

Managed a DV with a loss of 64 men to 470 men and 1 artillery on the IJA side. :D

It was a lot of fun to play with no VOs.

Goblin, if you read this, I think it might be right up your alley. Visiblity is minimal over most of the map (at least the parts I saw).

Thanks, Redleg!

Really a strong performance, Seagull. Good going.

How'd you like the off-board 81mm mortars?

You know, I don't think I ever used the mortar!

Any time that I saw a Japanese squad, it was either in the adjoining hex or had retreated into my own hex. At one point, I had four IJA squads retreat into a hex with one of my recon squads. That got really ugly on the next turn. :(

Very good. I got in some Melee fighting the last time I played it.

The mortars were intended to be a bit difficult to use. Just wondered about that.

Each time I played it, I got a bit different result. Based on your outcome and mine, I have altered the battle a little. Thanks for telling the result.

DV 1371/269
126 Usa KIA vs. 569 + 2 mortars
Missed only one Jap squad, ach :)
Found mortars useful to "fix" on place the last Jap wave popping out in the North, around turn 10.
Once fixed, easy going with encirclement and destruction.

Redleg's prolific and unique style shows itself again in this fine battle. I recommend it. Carry lots of ammo!
